Portarlington Pier

Portarlington Beach is fantastic. It’s a great relaxed beach
You can park your car under the treat and set your space up only a few steps from the car
It’s not a rough ocean and is great for families

Love this place great views of the You Yangs and Melbourne and boat comes in from Melbourne and Geelong Donuts at the pier are well famous over 50 years people come from all over Melbourne.

Great spot for a fish or a walk. Lots of spots nearby to buy food from. Plenty of car parks. Water is usually really calm. Lots of rays so I wouldn't go swimming in it. Playground is close so the kids can run riot. Good spot to spend an afternoon with the family.

We went to Portarlington this Jan 2024 for the mussel festival. We bought 2 boxes of 5kg fresh mussels ($35/5kg) at the pier where Mr Mussels has setup. Brought it to where we have our picnic table and tent setup and cooked the mussels on site. It was delicious and fresh as it can be. We brought the rest home and then baked them in the oven, dressing the mussels with butter, garlic, parsley and cheese. One of the best weekends for this year. 🥰😍🦪🦪🦪🦪🦪

The temp for the day was 31-32 degrees. At 10am the water lovely so get there early and you’ll have a fab time. Bring your sunshade, family & best friend(dog).

Lovely spot for a relaxing day out. Must try the Donuts store..they have appealing ranges to choose from.

A walk on the Pier is a must when visiting Portarlington. The water is clear and you often pick out little fish or starfish. Sometimes you may see our resident stingray "Stumpy". He doesn't have a tail and has been coming here for years

Long Beautiful Rocky Pier. Best Place to catch Snapper during warm time from October. It Can be really busy place during nice weather.

Excellent pier. Not too crowded (Visited on a weekday) some people were fishing and others just walking and spending time. Lots of parking and clean toilets. Pier goes like zigzag into thr Beach and quire a walk plus unsealed walkways so wear good shoes. Clear water with vegetation. Love to visit again

Nice place to come and visit, recently finished an upgrade (according to a sign nearby). Good views. Some seats available to admire the view. Interesting to watch the ferry leaving from there.

Beautiful long spot for fishing. So happened while we were walking. Someone caught a huge red snapper!!

Beautiful clean blue waters. Water is always calm here, saw a starfish, sting ray, lots of fish and crabs. Great spot for the kids to pick seashells too!

Beautiful place tp hangout with the family. See the ferry take off for Melbourne. Lots of food options

Oh my goodness!! Portarlington is GORGEOUS!! I grew up by the coast but now live in rural Victoria. I miss water and the ocean so much and try and get back there as often as possible. We visited Portarlington on a whim as we had some time to spare before a lunch reservation and I was blow away by the calm and serenity of the water and the bay. Had we known it was such a lovely place we would have allocated more time there. We parked down by the jetty/pier and walked to the water. The feeling of taking my shoes off and walking on grass and sand and finally touching the cool, fresh water almost made me cry. The beach is really shelley so is a bit tough on the feet and there's heaps of dried seaweed all over the beach. I'm not sure if it's always there or its seasonal but it didn't matter. I loved being there so much. It was one of the best parts of our holiday for me. I will absolutely be back to stay in the town for a few days the next time we're there. 😍

We arrived at the pier on the Melbourne ferry, to find that the pier was uncrowded, clean & very scenic. Portarlington itself is beautiful, clear seas, palm trees, golden sand & lots of benches to just sit & watch the world go by & clear the mind

This place is simply stunning! Enjoyed a really nice, quiet and peaceful walk there.

Very clean and the ferry is punctual. The conductors looked really cool and seemed very friendly and I saw one of the guys on the promotional video they have playing at the beginning of the journey (which was also really well made if I may add). The boat has wifi, the coffee onboard was delicious (not like in America.... Melbourne really spoiled me), the ship was very clean, the bathrooms were spacious and clean, the crew were friendly and helpful. Great experience.

Portarlington is a fantastic place and a great escape from the buzz of Melbourne city. Great for families.
