CIEL Cafe

I was in Melbourne for the weekend and was looking for somewhere that had great food, value for money and wasn't where all the tourists go for breakfast. I found it at Ciel Cafe.

When I approached the cafe and looked in the window, I could see it was going to be good. A waitress greeted me with a smile and showed me to a table. There was lots of great food to choose from, coffee's, tea's and other drinks. I ordered a tea and brekky burger, which was delicious.

The cafe had a really cool industrial/rustic decor with chillout music, giving it a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were excellent and I could tell they liked working there. I definitely recommend Ciel Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast or lunch. I will be back next time I visit Melbourne.

I love Ciel. My favourite menu item is the Eggs Benedict. The house-made hash-browns are crunchy and delicious and the apple slaw really balances out the flavours and adds freshness to the dish. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. There’s a great atmosphere also. Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch.

One stop cafe to grab my caffeine before church! I really love everything about this place; friendly staffs even if they're busy all the time, quick & good service, and the most important is GREAT COFFEE!

Great vibe, spacious room! The Benedict was beautiful! And of course, the star of the show was ONA coffee. Left Canberra for years, to find ONA again in Melbourne reminds all the good memories of the old time.

This place is amazing! One of the best breakfast’s I’ve had, service was delightful. It was such a nice experience, smashed avo was incredible !

Egg on toast was simple and good. Love it!
Mocha was not very strong but smoothy. Chilling place generally, filling with family passing by for children playground inside of the building though.

A+++ Delicious, healthy food with no waiting time. I was worried we would have a long waiting given the popularity of this cafe but it was easy to find a table and the food was incredible. I think the quesadilla was probably our favorite. Would absolutely return again.

What a fabulous place! Staff unpretentious and friendly. Menu choices unique and inspired. Food was excellent, as was the coffee. Unbelievably good value. I wish we lived closer!

Ordered chilli scrambled eggs. Generous portion and loved the chorizo and chili sauce. Coffee was good too. Place itself is spacious and really nice ambience. Totally deserve the high rating.

A true hidden gem in the city.

The food is very high quality, the coffee top notch and the environment very friendly. Prices are more than fair for the quality of service you receive.

A strong recommendation if you want to try something new close enough to the CBD that gives the other classic brunch places a run for its money.

We were invited to Ciel cafe, a darkly styled sizeable modern warehouse conversion in South Melbourne. We had a lovely breakfast starting with a warming chai to defrost the winters morning.

We ordered two dishes to share the avo garden and the pancakes. Both generously portioned and extremely well presented. The avo dish was stunning on the plate, the classic combination and simple ingredients but perfectly executed- you can’t ask for anymore than that.

The pancakes were visually impressive topped with a umbrella which took me on a tropical holiday and was possibly a nod to the coconut element in the nut crumble. The crumble itself gave the dish a crunch element to go with the beautiful brûlée’d banana and spiced caramel sauce. Another delicious dish that I really couldn’t fault

Best coffee with no doubt and excellent arts, tooooo good to not order a second cup.. The food was great, the french toast was terrific with a clear layering of taste. Came from Canberra but really want to visit CIEL for the next time when we are in Mel:) Well done guys!

CIEL has a calming aura to the place, smooth coffee and delicious food tingling your taste buds. The staff are polite and friendly. It has an industrial style feeling spacious yet not too open.

The brunch we need, but don’t deserve after a big night out.

Coffee was fantastic, staff were very warm and friendly, and food had its original take on brunch staples.

The Pbj French toast was also quite possibly the best rendition of French toast I’ve had

WOW! I had such an incredible experience at CIEL Cafe. The staff were so lovely and put so much care and effort into their work. I ordered the smashed avo and two coffees (because I couldn't get enough!), and I would go so far as to say that their smashed avo is the best I've ever had! So full of delicious flavours and so beautiful! It was very refreshing and exactly what I needed. Thank you CIEL :) When I'm back in Melbourne, I'll be sure to visit again!

Been here a few times with my partner now and it’s beautiful every time! Food is great, coffee is great and the atmosphere is lovely.
We’ve had some great conversations with strangers here from being sat at the high tables and the staff are always so nice!
Definitely a great breakfast/ brunch/ lunch place to check out in Melbourne.

Delicious breakfasts and great coffee. A fantastic cafe with a large airy indoor space, a raw industrial feel and great staff that were so friendly and accommodating. Air-conditioning was a huge bonus as the day we went it was 35+.

Will be back for sure.

I have vegetarian quesadillas and it was amazing o course coffee too.
Staff were very friendly with enthusiasm.
I’ll definitely come back again.
