Stopped in for a light lunch, great food, absolutely amazing friendly bubbly service and a special mention to Leanne our server and Claire who greeted us with sincere enjoyment who you can tell just love what they do. Renovated venue and great decor. Well done

An experience to remember. We booked out the Portarlington Grand Hotel for our wedding weekend for ourselves and our immediate family and friends. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were stunning – especially the bay view rooms on the second floor. They were all tastefully decorated and our room had an extremely generous bathroom that brought an additional wow-factor. We booked casual breakfast for our guests the morning following our wedding and the coffee and food hit the spot! Thank you for helping make our wedding weekend one to remember.

We booked a lunch for 14 on busy Easter Saturday.
The meals were great, the hotel has a fantastic atmosphere. There was a mix up with the meals where 2 meals weren’t brought out to us. What I admired the most was that Cameron from the hotel came out to us, apologised, owned the mistake and immediately made amends delivering the meals promptly and drinks for the two patrons. Well done, very professional. Will definitely be back.

Pumpkin risotto was the best I've ever ate! Steak was so smokey and delicious, kids fish and chips so fresh and the chicken parma was perfect 👌

Wwe loved our stay at the Portarlington Grand! The rooms are beautifully appointed, with a nice touch of luxury. We stayed in an Atrium room with a very large ensuite bathroom. The room size was great with a very large bathroom in the 06 rooms, along with a small fridge and wardrobe for storage. Capi sparkling water is complimentary. The location is fabulous overlooking the waterfront, and the rooms are quiet and secluded. Staff were very helpful, and we enjoyed the transfer from the hotel to the Q train for lunch which meant we were both able to relax and enjoy our long leisurely lunch. Think a breakfast option could be included for the price, however we would definitely stay again!

We had a small get together yesterday to remember my brother in law after his recent passing. The staff at the hotel were so lovely. Service was really good (especially Chris) & their treatment of my sister who had organised this event was so compassionate.
We were out on the lawn and whilst it was hot, the umbrellas protected us well.

A group of 9 for lunch & even though they were short-staffed the service was still excellent. I had the Fried Cauliflower and it was delicious. Didn't hear any complaints from our group.

I took my 89 year old dad here for his birthday ..the food was beautiful and they really looked after him ..Lovley service gorgeous old historic hotel .
Portarlington is so cute and reminds me of a mini Williamstown.

Went here for dinner as a family of four. All the staff were very friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious - everything was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The venue is huge and beautifully renovated, with many different dining areas to suit whatever occasion you might be joining them for. We will definitely be back here next time we’re in the area!

Booked for Saturday 20th January 2024, 3 weeks in advance - lucky I did as they were flat out
57 year old myself, 15 year old autistic boy and 10 year old girl had an unbelievable time, staff were fantastic and food was sensational
I had the steak medium and it melted in my mouth
Lastly we were put on table 1 which was ideal for my 2 children
The kids dessert that has everything is a must which is the smaller version of the shared version in adult desserts

We had lunch here in the outside area and really enjoyed it. Burgers were great and with the atmosphere to match

Such a great venue and restaurant! We enjoyed some amazing meals - pie of the day, parmi and fish and chips - and the food was wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about the staff (special mention to Chris) who provided exceptional service and went above and beyond. I highly recommend this venue and will definitely be back!

I loved how this hotel had different areas you could choose according to your mood. The outside atrium for more informal dining options, and the interior bistro for a classic pub feel. The local area was referenced in the prints on the walls. Fresh flowers everywhere. The food is so generous! I swear I was served a kilo of mussels! Beautiful service. Front bar for drinks later, so a relaxing place to hang. The view from the front verandah is gorgeous!
I've come here to eat many times but our recent trip (April 2024) was our first stay - from the very first (phone booking) to the last (checkout) staff were amazing, friendly and professional. Our balcony room was immaculate and regularly serviced. It was such a great place to view the slow pace of life outside.
The staff even put on a complimentary bus shuttle to the local winery and picked us up as well and dropping us directly at the ferry terminal to catch the trip home.
Midweek - even with the restaurant closed there are many eating options. The local pierfront pizza place had outstanding pasta and risotto options and food was authentic and lovingly made.
The hotel's front bar (outside tables street frontage) is one of the best places to watch the bay and the everchanging weather.
Even though it was the school holidays it was quiet, which we didn't mind. The local bar (used to be Edina now Arlo) was the perfect place for drinks and tapas plus views.
This hotel is worth every cent you spend on a stay. Ignore negative reviews. Instead honour how hard it is for regional towns and hotels to survive with hard to find staff trying to please grumpy Melbournians who still think they're in the city. The Grand at Portarlington is a regional gem. We will be back!!

Great meals always. Service is second to none staff are so friendly and accommodating nothing is too much to ask for. Views are as breathtaking as the food and if that not enough the deserts will knock you off your feet.
