I cannot give this place enough stars, they deserve 20/10!! The food is AMAZING. So much flavour, the presentation is gorgeous and the service is also great. We will be back every Saturday!

Delicious and good value. I came on a weekday for lunch with a friend and it was easy to find parking right in front of the cafe and get a table. The wat tan hor was delicious, as was the iced lemon tea. They use proper woks to cook. Sadly, some menu items are only available on specific days. Also, the brown bags provided to takeaway curry puffs get very oily but I'm not sure what a better/environmental solution is.

Tried their new Dai luk mee (bigger noodles used and cooked in the KL hokkien mee style) on a Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed it with a side of sambal.

Hubby ordered their Char Gai fan and really enjoyed it too.

Prices and portions were reasonable and will definitely be back !

Very busy but service was fast. Their mee goreng had an unexpected wok hey flavour which made it very tasty. Nasi lemak was served on this brown paper, exactly how I grew up with. What a special touch...
Chee cheong fun sauce was quite similar to what I used to have too and they added pickled radish too which made the dish a bit umami.

Nicely tucked away in a lesser known location in Knox. The food is very delicious (we tried Char Kway Teow, Kaya Toast, Curry Puffs, etc.) Price is slightly high. Service is very friendly. Plenty of parking, which is nice.

Absolutely mouth watering and delicious food. Everything we got was amazing, every bite got better and better.

Curry puffs and pork buns were flakey and buttery. Fried chicken and bbq pork belly plate was succulent and the chicken was crispy.

Hokkien Mee was packed with smokey deep flavour. It was rich and delicious.

Truely a gem of a restaurant!

Jan2024: Busihess has gone to new capable hands - adding beautiful Indonesian dishes but keeping the old Nakaysian ones as well. My favourite go-to Malaysian-Indonesian for sth Asian food.
Yum yum yum 🤤

This has become my favourite Msian binge place whenever we are in Vic. Staff are busy, yet friendly and helpful. Love their assam laksa, Hokkien mee, teh tarik, nasi lemak, etc.

Price is very reasonable. Char kway tiao was quite good, chee chong fun (with curry sauce) was good. Nasi lemak was good too and add $1 for termeric fried chicken. Thot the chicken was small but no, it was quite a big size. Not recommending the black fried carrot cake as it was kind of salty and too sweet (due to black sauce). There's outdoor seating and can bring furry friends. The Malaysia coffee was OK.

Another great Malaysian cafe. They offer one of the best Assam Laksa in Melbourne, also love the “cheong fun” with curry sauce and Penang style char kuay teow. All these goes well with teh tarik.

Also worth noting that the staff are very friendly and helpful, really enjoyed our lunch there.

We’ll be back to try the other dishes.

I've eaten here a few times before. Their Indonesian and Malaysian food are excellent. Came here for lunch two days ago and they had a special deal where all Indonesian dishes were 20% off (woohoo!!!). Tried their fried fish for the first time and it was absolutely scrumptious.

Revisit Aug 2023. Has not been visiting this restaurant for quite sometimes and there is new surprise as they have indonesian food option. The taste is almost authentic. The portion size is big, enough for 2 eater. The ambiance is very good. However there is the downside as the service is lack in professionalism, either caused by new staff or lack of training staff.
Overall, it has not discounted the enjoyment eating in this restaurant.
Also, there is enough car parking space near the restaurant.

First Visit. Very great mix between malaysian food and western cafe meal. I ordered malaysian dish for our brunch.. so filling..

Delicious and authentic Malaysian street food. Serving portion is reasonable for the price. The Assam Laksa and the Fried Rice Cake (Char Kueh Kak) were truly authentic Penang street food. The Pork Intestine Noodles 😄 (direct translation for Chee Cheong Fun) was an authentic Ipoh/KL style food. Overall a very succulent experience 😋

Knox Gateway Cafe, unassuming place that looks like Amy other cafe, but turns out they dish out pretty descent Indonesian and Malaysian food that won't break the bank.

Came here for coffee ended up eating an early lunch.
Service was great, they helped explain all the dishes available and was very friendly.

Got the Ikan Lele goreng (Fried catfish) and Teh Tarik.

Fish was fried well and made to order (you know because it means you can eat the small bones) seasoned well too. The tea was authentic.

Will definately come back to try other dishes :)

Note in terms of availability:
Tues-Friday (serves both Indo and Malay food)
Saturday (Malay food only)
Sunday (Indo food only)

12/12/2020 - 20 mins away from where we live but worth the travel and worth every bite! The asam laksa has to be one of the best in Melbourne! It’s so authentic and bursting with flavor that brings you back to Malaysia! The kuih... the fried radish cake... the nasi lemak bunkus... all were very authentic! Not to mention the Hokien mee and assam laksa taste so close to the real deal from my hometown of Kuala Lumpur. If you’re craving Asian or Malaysian food, I highly recommend coming to this hidden gem of a restaurant! It’ll be worth it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

30/1/2021 - Another review because we’re just so satisfied again. The Hokien Mee is just so authentic and drool worthy.... 🤤 Today we also tried their Chee Cheong Fun and man... brought us back to our childhood memories back in Malaysia. The curry sauce was just sooo good that we ordered more. This cafe deserves another 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review again!! Keep it up and compliments to the chef!

Had a nice lunch here for the 1st time today- Nasi Lemak Bungkus with curry chicken and a Teh Tarik. Potion size just right and wonderful flavours at a decent price. Atmosphere was friendly and not pretentious with welcoming staff and fast service.
