I visited Una's on a Saturday night with my friends Grant and Hugo after being told from several people it's a Sydney institution.

The schnitzels came out very fast (suspiciously fast) and they were massive. They tasted great (as did the rosti) and were awesome value.

The vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Perfect for a casual dinner catch-up.

Dinned here on a Saturday evening. I ordered the chicken snitzel and it was outstanding. It was dished quickly and the service was great. The other 6 guests I ate with all had great reports for their dishes. "I'll be back"

Went after seeing Una's in a top 10 Schnitzels in Sydney, for the money it's definitely up there. Can't make a booking online so it was lucky we got a seat on a Saturday night. Really wholesome place with good service. The value for money is great and food was hearty and delicious. Would recommend for a homely vibe, cold beer and good meals.

One of the best schnitzel in Sydney!

Entrees are really good. Had the bread with dip and it was excellent. Can't go wrong with the mushroom sauce as it's quite good for mains. Rosti was a surprise for me and definitely worth coming back for.

Service was really great as well and food wait times isn't too long.

Great atmosphere with good food and friendly service. Was told they had one of the best Jager schnitty around. Photo says it all. By the time we left at 6.30pm on a Saturday, massive line waiting outside.

During my recent 44 night stay in Sydney for work, I was in an Airbnb on Victoria St and only a few doors away from Una's. I dined there on 4 occasions and every time I loved it. The food was wonderful, each time trying something new on the menu, the atmosphere was fun and jovial, and the service warm, friendly and genuine.
I lived in Austria for 6 years in the 90s, and my time at Una's took me back to those wonderful years.
I highly recommend Una's, it's unique and fun, and the owner is a lovely lady who always looked after us very well and had time for a chat.

I love the Schnitzel with the Jägersoße (Hunter’s Sauce (mushrooms)). Unlike many Schnitzels in Australia in general, this Schnitzel taste like authentic Schnitzel back when I was visiting Germany and Austria, they served this with Rösti instead of chips.

They served this food really quick, staffs are also great & friendly, I really appreciate their hospitality. I know cooks/chefs at the back aren’t German but still can manage their food to be taste like authentic German cuisine. Definitely wanna go back and try another food

The atmosphere and aesthetics of the place are amazing. I came for my 20th birthday today and their food is amazing with the only criticism being the pork knuckle is too dry for my taste. They have real bread prestles that are amazing as a side. The schnitzels are crispy and delicious. The crumbbed mushrooms are a personal favourite along with the fried Camembert thats paired with cranberry jam. The menu is extensive and delicious. The prices at first seem average but when the meal comes around it's twice as big as you were expecting and you realise the price is a bargain. It was too much food for my family but they give take away containers and a carry bag for you to put the food away when asked, free of charge. The staff are very pleasant and even gave my table a free complimentary pretzel since we ordered so much. I highly recommend this restaurant, perphas the best German/Austrian restaurant in Sydney.

The best and biggest chicken schnitzel in Sydney. For $25.40, we didn’t expect it to be so large, it’s the size of a football! Served with crispy potato rosti and slaw it is the perfect meal for a winters day. We also tried the smoked salmon sandwich toasted on brown Swiss bread and it was fresh, tasty and great value at $12.90. Service is friendly and prompt, atmosphere is homely and welcoming. There is paid street parking by the hour. If we weren’t so full we would have tried one of their desserts! We will definitely come back.

We enjoyed the session here. We were in and out in less than 45 mins. Full and very happy.

It was cooler inside than we expected.

We had beer but they allowed BYO wine.

If you're looking for excellent value, this is the place to visit. The chicken schnitzel was generously sized and left me thoroughly satisfied. Our service was provided by the German manager, who boasts 12 years of experience at the establishment. Her upbeat and cheerful approach truly enhanced our evening. As a unique experience, I tried the cheese and fruit strudel, which was an absolute delight – a first for me, but certainly not the last. It was accompanied by a serving of ice cream. Despite only visiting Australia once a year to see family, I'm already planning to include this spot in next year's itinerary. Kudos to Unas!

I love this restaurant. I’m from Europe and i went a few times to Austrian restaurants and the Una’s is really authentic and with a real Austrian size food. And i even love that they have good hot wine and the taste is authentic too. So we are really happy that we did a stop here.

Large servings of tasty comfort food. Mains large (recommend sharing 2:3), desserts a reasonable size. Good beer on tap.

Pork Schnitzel is fresh, crispy, and not dry paired with delicious potato string fries and perfrctly seasoned mushrrom gravvy - worth the 27 bucks with a free/complementary starter of pickled cabbage with pepper and peprika

Una's is always amazing but you need your own gravy for a full snitzel (not what my mate said haha)

Came here before Christmas for lunch and their schnitzels are amazing. They're a good size and incredibly juicy.
Their apple strudel was also nice, would be perfect with abit more ice cream.

Couldn’t be happier. I lived Una’s when we lived down here, back in a family trip & couldn’t wait to try again.
Nothing has changed. Huge portions, tasty food & drinks. Everything’s you’d expect from a good old style European restaurant.
To top it all off Martika’s customer service was some of the most pleasant & genuine people can remember.

Thanks team. See you next time.

Lots of food - large portions. Everything is sharable. Larger than US servings. Great beers. Fun people and atmosphere. Grabbed an outside table late night winter. Everyone is cold but us from Alaska lol.
Lively street full of young, robust, diverse people. Definitely would come back.
Gave only 3 stars because everything is deep fried. Needs Healthy variety - says me hardly ever except this once lol.

Una’s is a Darlinghurst institution! For as long as I can remember I have been coming here for a hearty breakfast or a home style meal just like Oma used to make.

On my most recent visit I was pleased to see that all Covid Safe procedures were being followed and my dining partner and I grabbed a seat on the window looking out over the bustling Victoria Street.

The interior is themed like a traditional Austrian beer house and many of the staff are of European background so try your best German pleasantries if you are confident.

To start we ordered drinks and our very friendly waitress recommended their current on tap offering which was a Czech beer that went down like a treat!! So easy to drink and super refreshing. The accompaniment of a warm and super soft bretzel was a great lead in to the main event.

Everything on the menu is worth trying but Una’s is famous for their Jaeger Schnitzel. The meat is your choice or chicken, veal or pork. I chose the chicken and it arrived a short time later. As usual the serving size can only be described as epic. Juicy crumbed chicken deliciousness that is so large it hangs over the plate!! The schnitzel is topped with a rich dark mushroom gravy and a side of perfectly cooked crispy rösti completes this comfort food combination.

You also get a very nice cabbage salad which is a really nice pallet cleanser.

You will notice lots of people leaving with doggy bags as the servings are truely value for money. Just ask your friendly waiter for a container and you can shovel whatever is left on your plate into your travel pack ready for tomorrow’s left overs.

For a great comfort food experience I can’t recommend Una’s enough. Thanks and I will see you again soon.
