Hoh Won Chinese Restaurant

Love this small Chinese Restaurant, try and go here regularly with my housemates and just has such a warm and familiar vibe. The food is great and so is the service, BYO and they'll chill your drinks. Can recommend the duck and the sizzling dishes. Reasonable price, but bit odd there is no cash discount but still always look forward to coming back to Hoh Won.

Great Chinese restaurant, tasty dishes, the satay chicken and the beef with pepper sauce stands out, the sweet and sour pork is also a good choice, a restaurant you can safely go back to.

Hoh Won is a lovely family, neighbourhood restaurant. Very solid and well priced fare. I recommend Rainbow Beef, Tasty Chicken (yes that's the name - and it is indeed very tasty) and Mongolian Beef. Fried rice is good and the steamed dim sims are home made and very nice. The owner (David) cooks every day.

Family been coming here for over 30 years. Food has been great and quality has been consistent. Price has also been reasonable. Don’t come here expecting amazing customer service. That’s just part of the fun!

I like their food, pork rib with salt&pepper, deep fried squid with salt&pepper, whole flounder deep fried 😊

Incredible food, great value for money, not fancy looking but their focus excels expectation on the taste.

Sometimes when ordering over the phone I get a surprise dish - it doesn’t match what I asked for, but I love that. I get to try new things and accidentally expand my palette.

I’ve never been disappointed with any dish these guys make. My Chinese friends are impressed too, which only authenticates my praise. It’s my ‘go to’ for great Chinese.

Was pleasantly surprised with my 1st Chinese pick up from Hoh Won.
I was greeted with such a friendly man.
Our meal was superb, it had body to the sauces, plenty of taste, each meal tasted distinctly different and fresh.
The Roast Duck with Plum sauce, the meat fresh, tender, moist and flavoursome.
Stay Prawn, thick, slightly spiced sauce, fresh prawns, many of them.
Steak Szechuan perfect cooked and peppery.

An institution and well know for its non fuss Asian food. Palettes of Asian and Australians are well considered in their offering.

The decor certainly brings your memories back to the 1980’s but don’t let that fool you. Love it because it reminded me of another similar restaurant in Maroubra Junction that we frequented a lot but closed in the 1990.

Yummy food, a wide menu selection of poultry, seafood and vegetables, rice and chef suggestions will have you wanting more. And if you want to be adventurous, try the chalkboard menu in Chinese writing - I did and love it!

Just a great traditional Chinese restaurant. It’s almost always busy but with good reason, the food is always flavoursome, occasionally I had dishes with a little much pepper, but I’ve been coming here for years and that only happened once or twice.
I do prefer the more traditional tasting of the menu compared to every other restaurants modernisation to every dish.
It’s no Mr Wong’s but it’s not trying to be, the prices are fair and the food is traditional and good, and let me just say THE DECOR, the decor is sensational. I love the trapped in the 60’s look, the wallpaper and chandelier, so charismatic.

Damn good food. We've been going year for 5+ years and always love this place. The waiters & staff are always helpful, and the food always delivers.

- shredded beef
- XO beans
- salt & pepper squid

You will not regret ordering the deep fried beef and BBQ sauce. I am salivating just thinking about it 🤤

Great Chinese place! Have been going there for years now and they've never missed a beat! The food is always amazing and delicious and the prices are so cheap! Dinner for 6 adults and 3 kids was just over 100 bucks and we were stuffed!! Good luck getting that anywhere else in Sydney

We ordered what we usually order not knowing the sizes. They are very generous and very tasty. Decore Reminds me on the 1970’s bit the employees are frendily. I would definitely come back. The sticky chicken lacked something is my only negative but we may have just been unlucky.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant. I’ve been coming here ever since I was a little girl! And that’s over 30 years… food hasn’t changed… tastes amazing, portions are big… I salivate just thinking of the dishes!! Spring rolls, dim sums, crispy chilli chicken, satay pork are my favs! Yummm

Old school family run Chinese restaurant. Food is excellent. One of my favourite go-to places in Kensington.

We've been eating at this restaurant for over 40+ years. From the age of 4 I've loved this place. My kid's now love the Hoh Won. HIGHLY recommended.

Delicious food, homely atmosphere, great price. What more could you ask for? Recommend the chicken wings, Peking duck, spare ribs (all the sauces are tasty). Been going here for years, always leave happy
