Bescetti

Our family was looking for a cafe in the sun on a brisk winter's day. We had the choice of the tightly-grouped trio of cafes of Laneway, Maggio and Bescetti. The other two seemed more popular with the locals but we chose Bescetti as it was the only one with a table in the sun. The lady (owner? manager?) who showed us to a table was extremely helpful and friendly. At 2pm we were unsure if we were stopping for lunch or snack or just coffee so she left us with both breakfast and lunch menus. I ordered the blackboard special of Egg and bacon roll (actually on toasted Turkish bread) and coffee for $8. My wife ordered the roasted tomato and avocado on toast. Food was simple but tasty and generous and very good value for the price. A slight disappointment was my daughter's French Toast as this appeared to be simply fried raisin toast (but for her nowhere seems to meet the high standard I set in French Toast making). Coffee was surprisingly good. The best I've had in a while. A nice touch was the blankets over the backs of the chairs for use when it gets chilly outside - although there are outdoor heaters too.
