What a delightful dinner! It was my first time and it was REALLY good. Very high quality! The food was amazing, the staff superb, the atmosphere 😌... Perfect for any occasion. I highly recommend it and I will be back for the a la carte menu.

Absolutely delightful little hidden gem tucked away quietly in South Fremantle. On the surface you wouldn't even know it's here.. it's discretely hidden away and I only stumbled across it by accident.. but it was worth the drop in.

The photos shared here don't really do this establishment any justice. At night time it is a quaint, comfortable and ambient setting - perfect for that romantic date night.

The staff are as you would expect - absolutely lovely kind and gentle Japanese people who do their best to accommodate you as if you're a high roller.. it really is wonderful. Even though they close at 9, I just observed a couple walk in at 8.57, and they still went to the effort of accommodating them.

The food is simply delightful. Every attention to detail has been given here and each ingredient is carefully prepared and you could taste each component just bursting with flavour, even down to the Miso soup. We had a Wagyu and a Salmon Donburi along with the Agedashi Tofu and it was all top tier. Even the Genmaicha was of a quality you just don't see often in Perth.

Pricing is good, we are full to the brim on less than $35pp.

I highly recommend this little gem - it deserves a ton more credit than Google gives it!

Fantastic local Japanese in Perth and our new favorite (having eaten at Nobu, Jaws, Marumo, Modern Eatery and others!)
Visited on a Thursday night and asked for the Momo set menu in advance.
Fantastic value for $77 per person. Each person received a fill tapas selection, tempura vegetable, sashimi, and their choice of main followed by a matcha ice cream. Place was BYO as well.
Highlights of the menu included: The sweet and sour pumpkin and octopus (hubby loved the duck and chicken too), the Tempura was en point for taste and texture, sashimi was beautifully fresh (scallop and salmon in particular) and the Grilled Eel was the winner between it and the Tuna don.
Service was quick but well paced and very polite (Japanese servers), attention to detail in plating was fantastic.
If there is any room for improvement, it would simply be in the Dessert. We would've actually enjoyed some Red bean with the Ice cream but maybe another option would be good to.
100% will return.

We went for an impromptu Sunday lunch and left thoroughly impressed. The food is on point and arrived beautifully presented; service was immaculate. The only annoying thing is that it took us 4 years to discover this place; we will definitely be back!

We were pleasantly surprised to find this cosy Japanese restaurant tucked in a quiet suburb. We ordered a small sashimi platter, a seared salmon donburi set and a soba in duck broth and a taiyaki dessert. We were wowed by how delicious the food was! The sashimi slices were thick and fresh, the donburi was superb with the complimentary miso soup, and the soba was something different.
The waiting staff was amazing even though she was the only one serving a full house of patrons; she was very polite and always with a smile.
If we visit Fremantle again, we will definitely dine at Sanco one more time! 🙂

Lovely authentic Japanese flavors and presentation. Umami, balanced flavors and fresh quality sushi. Best scallop I've had in a long while, reminded me of home. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate with enoki mushrooms, prawn and chicken. ❤ The owner is very kind and I wish her continued success. ご馳走様でした! 🙏

Amazing restaurant with quality Japanese food. Food were well presented and have a very cozy atmosphere. Great for a date or a small gathering with families and friends.

The staff are friendly, accommodating and very attentive. They realised I was missing a dish in my entrees basket and offered 2x the quantity.

They do Set Menu degustation on Friday and Saturday only and is definitely worth it. The chefs are skilled at creating beautiful and flavourful dishes. Sashimi are particularly fresh and sushi are delicious. Had the Sakura set and love all aspect of it. Firstly served with entrees in a basket, tapas plates, sushi and dessert.

A well hidden gem in South Fremantle. If you love Japanese food, definitely worth visiting.

Have been searching for great Japanese in Fremantle & this place certainly delivers. We went on a Saturday night with a friend & has the set menu. The food was spectacular. The pace the food was brought out was spot on & the service was very warm & friendly. We definitely want to go back to try more dishes. Very good value for money

Have eaten here twice: one a la carte and the other was the Momo set menu. Both were amazing. Just a burst of flavours on my taste buds. Everything is so fresh and authentic. I would dine here again.

As a Japanese living in Freo, this is my go to place when I miss Japanese food.

It's not the amazing performed Teppan-yaki or expensive Sushi, but the stuff you normally eat out in Japan is here!

Charming authentic Japanese restaurant that feels like you’re in a cozy Kyoto establishment! We had lunch and there was a brunch set special or a la carte. The sushi was good however I think the edamame was some of the freshest tasting I’ve had and the miso soup is the real deal. Loose leaf green tea offered and no alcohol on menu. Call to book ahead. A beautiful experience that makes me miss Japan even more!

Excellent authentic and freshly prepared Japanese food. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food service was very efficient.
Green tea with free refills was very tasty, and we were really pleased with the food (and amount) we ordered to share between the two of us which was perfect for lunch - udon soup, beef donburri, salmon nigiri and edamame beans, all which came to $50. The sushi was fresh, the beef in the donburri was rare and beautifully prepared with a light wasabi dressing, and the udon broth was warming and delicate and full of flavour.
Excellent quality all round and very good value. Will definitely return.

Amazing little hidden restaurant. Really well presented and everything tasted delicious! You can’t see the door from the road, and there doesn’t seem to be any signage…but hunt it out as it is worth it!

Authentic Japanese meal. Sashimi plate and soba noodles were very nice. Remember to BYO it wanting to drink alcohol!
