Excellent doctor, but, be warned, do not attend initial consult with a "specialist" referral, which are only valid for 3mths, or you will be charged another 104 (initial consult) if your follow-up appmt exceeds the 3mth period after which another referral is req'd.
4mths later ... had op at RPA as public pt and, without doubt, he is the most brilliant and caring doc I have ever encountered. My initial warning still holds as, having worked for a specialist, I always advised pts to also bring along a ref from GP (if the one they had was from a specialist) as they last 12mths.

Dr Benness seemed like a nice person, but as a surgeon seemed a little behind the times. He was great in diagnosing my problem, but the solution suggested was not optimal. I had a rather large fibroid impacting my bladder, and his recommendation was a hysterectomy with a large cut like a C section. As a women under 40, this was very hard to hear. After more research, I found a different Dr who came highly recommended. The fibroid was removed laparoscopically with minimal invasiveness, and resulted in a quick recovery. Always get a second opinion.
