Living on site at Buronga, tiny cabins built by APC. Not made for comfort , single bed only crammed into corner with cheap, mattress that cuts off circulation. My single bed-frame is second hand and metal which hums at night from switch board attached to outside and the exceedence comes through my wall, spoke with another worker who said his does too. Cannot sit up in bed to read as they installed large cupboards over our head, which you bash your head on every morning. Everyone talking about cupboards which is overkill.

Powerpoint no where near bed, so you cannot charge your phones, not that you'll be making calls home as the insulation in the rooves block your wifi. Noisy and cheapest aircon they could find. TV 1.8 metres from your face, tiny 450mm wide window that looks straight onto other person's bed so you must have blind down. Rooms dark all the time as there are NO screen or insect doors installed like other camps, to let in natural air and light while you're at work. Can hear person next door fart, breathe, pee and snore. Overkill of cupboards everywhere creating a claustrophobic feel, but hey when the confides of this dark, depressing, poorly configured box get you down, they've installed a heavy duty door closer over every door to hang yourself on, which are banned on most sites. And how's this ? NO MIRRORS to check yourself in before going off to the job. They must think FIFO workers have no self pride or don't care about our appearance.

I've been FIFO for over 15 years all over Australia and stayed in some pretty old and bad places, but at least they have space and a good layout with double beds and air and light, but this is not acceptable. I wouldn't keep a rescue dog in one of these. Lots of workers leaving this project due to accommodation. Am not allowed to take any photos as they will prosecute. My opinion and experience is think carefully before coming here as you have to be really tough to hack this one out. If, like me you're over 6ft, you won't sleep. These small spaces could be fitted out so much better if there was more thought into well-being, lighting, airflow, placement and comfort. Many are complaining about the configuration of these accom dongas and they are now moving people to Mildura to stop them leaving. Some aren't coming back, I don't think the project will use them again, due to amount of complaints.

I know cost is a factor in winning tenders, but there's no need to kit these spaces out this way. Could have been done cheaper and with double beds if designed right
