Joe's of Mentone

This is one of the best pizzas I've ever had in Melbourne, a perfect addition to an unparalleled summer afternoon. The nearby beach, with its soft sands, is ideal for surfing. After a day of exhaustive fun, I ordered a pizza and fries here. The Joe's Special, with its unique blend of mushrooms, chili, and sauce, was unforgettable. The fries were generously portioned, and I enjoyed them while watching the sun set at the intersection of the ocean and the hills – a truly memorable scene. Since the fries were plentiful, I invited a passerby to share them, and surprisingly, we ended up chatting for nearly two hours. This person of Italian descent also agreed that the pizza here was quite good. Thank you for the wonderful pizza experience; I'm looking forward to visiting on every sunny day

We go to Joe’s regularly, our kids insist this is the best place for pasta and pizza in our local area, I agree. Good value and service, gnocchi is my favourite, love talking to Joe too, fully recommend

Pizzas were divine and service was impeccable. The owner Joe is so friendly which makes the environment a wonderful place to be. Thomas was serving us and promptly delivered our food, he looks good and makes good pizza too 😎😎😎

This is a go to little gem in mentone. The staff are really friendly, food is great - the homemade pasta is great!

Above all the decor of this place is really something to see also. There is a bowling alley on the roof and the place has such a cosy atmosphere. I know half eaten food isn't what you want to see but we were so hungry.

Definitely coming back!

Tom was a brilliant and delightful waiter. His wisecrack humour is a Mentone staple that cannot be missed. Amazing food and atmosphere. Definitely going to be back, I hope Tom is my waiter every time

The atmosphere is amazing 👏 😍 the place is beautifully decorated, the three pizzas were amazing, crust thin and very tasty, no scarce on toppings neither. The service was kind and fast. This is the perfect place for after beach ⛱ dinner! I will be back.

We've been coming here for well over 15 years, we come from Frankston once every 3 to 4 weeks for the great authentic Italian food, super fresh pizza and pastas, great atmosphere, quirky decor and memorabilia.

The service from Angelo, his parents and the staff has always warm and welcoming.

(Trust me, get the garlic pizza in addition to your usual choice, it's worth it)

Greeted at the door by Joe himself. The meals were very generous and true flavours of Italy. The place was so busy yet Joe, his wife and son all took the time to make it a very personal experience. Amazing !

Cute Italian restaurant atmosphere just like Italy. Good quality ingredients on the pizza (it's thick crust style). Pizza sauce was tasty and size was very decent. Joe is super nice too! Didn't get to try the pasta...next time!

Have been coming to Joe's for years and there are so many reasons. Delicious food, wonderful service and such great atmosphere. The pasta servings are so large that I am rarely able to finish it off.. which means more to have at home for another time! Keep up the great work.. and the great food!!

I’ve only been to this place twice. The first was a quick takeaway and the second was a dine in on Valentine’s Day (loved the pizza so much I had to come back).

When we arrived the second time we noticed a lady at the front making fettuccine FROM SCRATCH and decided we HAD to try that pasta. It was phenomenal!! Also I love cheese-less garlic pizzas if they’re done right (not many places make it without cheese and those that do usually make it too dry or too oily imho), these guys made them perfectly each time! Probably the best garlic pizza I’ve had. On V Day they served it to us shaped like a heart, which I thought was an awesome touch

The decorations around the store are really fun to admire, they’ve got all sorts of things on display and no matter who you are you’re guaranteed to see a few things that bring back nostalgic memories. It really sets a good atmosphere and makes eating in very enjoyable

We also tried their cocktails, I highly recommend the Kermit!!!

Other than that the thing that struck me the most was that both times we went there all the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. The fella who I think is Joe (but I didn’t actually catch his name so not sure) was super happy and excited, you could tell this is a guy who really loves what he does. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a restaurant where the people working were that happy. It’s worth going if only to experience it for yourself

It's exactly like Nonna's house, but with more memorabilia. Amazing food, amazing people. You're a star Angelo! Handmade pasta, delicious pizza. I'll keep coming back!
