Ned Kelly's Capture Site

I really enjoyed looking at this site on a beautiful day in Glenrowan.
Of course, the newly built road over the railway ruins the overall scene but you can’t stop progress I suppose.
I really liked the sign boards giving plenty of information and images.
I hope that when the bridge is finished some funds are found to improve this attraction to a piece of Australian history.

"Robert Edwards" of Swan Hill said he used to have Carriage Rides at Glenrowan back in 2011, to take people around to see the History (Photo taken in 2011). Will that ever return?
Apart from that, the "Ned Kelly Museum & Homestead" (Photo taken in March 2024!) is the best place to go to, to find out all about the Local History. A small town, with a lot of History!

Really enjoyable trail explaining the history of Ned Kelly. All the exhibits are well signposted and most are within walking distance. An absolute must when visiting Glenrowan, but bring plenty of water as there is limited shade on the walk and it can get very hot!

The historical site where the infamous busranger Ned Kelly was brought down and captured. To capture him, the police shot at his legs and groin as they were not hidden by his heavy armour. The sign posts are well done. We enjoyed our walk and whole Glenrowan experience. Worth the visit. Make sure you visit the Kelly Museum. It's expensive but enjoyable including a well done replica of the little Kelly house.

Our little Ned loved it. Something for everyone to enjoy. Without history we have nothing. Such is life.

A super cool yet eery street with fascinating history of Ned Kelly's final stand. There are information boards which are ordered around in the sequence of events which took place here, so it sends you on a sort of orienteering or scavenger hunt which was super fun to experience.

Worthwhile stop over between Syd and Melb. Soak in the history and a great break for the kids with the Ned Kelly story.

A great walk around the town describing Ned Kelly's last days and final capture. There are plenty of eateries great museums and gift shops also

This is an awesome place full of Ned Kelly history. The original inn the police burnt down.

Was very rewarding walking in the foot steps of the famous Ned Kelly, loads of info and a replica homestead. Highly recommend visiting

It was the best production show I've seen, that is privately owned. I would highly recommend this, if you are visiting Glenrowan.

Glenrowan is well marked out with many noted historical sites to visit and explore, well worth the drive for a local day trip or stop off.

This location is a must when in Glenrowan.
Follow the sign board walk in order and you will learn the about the downfall and capture of the bushranger Ned Kelly. Highly recommend!

As a Ned Kelly nut this site is sad. Sergeant Steel shot at Ned’s unprotected legs and brought him down. The police surrounded Ned, Steel wanted to shoot Ned dead there and then. But one of the other coppers stopped him. Originally many years ago there was huge dead fallen tree here where Ned fell. Over time people cut pieces off of it to take home as souvenirs until it was all gone. Pity that some one stole the helmet off of the armour that is the site of where he fell. Would be nice to see it replaced.

Loved tracing it again after was a kid. But they need to build a replica hotel instead of just a pub inn sign where it all happened and put nice fence etc on it as looked average at best for such a huge thing in Aussie history

It was a really cool little walk reading the signs about the history, couldn't find the 7th sign because there were a bunch of road works

Worth the visit, not too far from the Big Ned Kelly. Good little history lesson for kids. Brings it all to life when you see the police in position. Love the recreation.

Good history lesson for those who are interested. Shame Ann's Inn is no more or a replica there. Plenty of history to learn
