A great local hardware store, with a surprisingly large variety of stock and very knowledgeable owners. Prices are comparable with Bunnings etc.

Someone else said 'old school' and that is definitely these lovely folks. No razamatazz, just what you you need at a price you're happy to pay. I always check them first, and only go further afield if they don't have it.
