I visited Tetsuya’s before they closed for good at this historic location. Although the service wasn’t as refined compared to previous visits over the years, the food was excellent as usual. The oysters, ocean trout and scallops were the stand out dishes on the night. I’m looking forward to seeing what Tet’s has in instore for his next venture.

About a month ago, on my birthday, my partner treated me to an unforgettable experience at Tetsuya's. This renowned restaurant offers a degustation menu, blending Japanese seasonal flavors with classic French techniques. From the moment we arrived, the impeccable service stood out, with staff welcoming us warmly and providing detailed explanations of each dish. Opting for the wine pairing added another layer of enjoyment, with our server expertly guiding us through each selection's history and perfect pairing with the food.

Now, onto the culinary journey itself. We started with delectable oysters, followed by a variety of seafood delights, transitioning smoothly to lamb and Wagyu beef before indulging in decadent desserts. While the lamb with eggplant wasn't to my taste, every other dish was outstanding. The Hokkaido scallops, with their crispy exterior and tender interior, were particularly memorable, as was the signature Confit of Tasmanian Ocean Trout. The Wagyu, served with pine mushrooms and watercress, was a grand finale of flavors, cooked to perfection and accompanied by a delightful mushroom sauce.

The dessert selection offered a range of treats, from refreshing sorbets, mousses and petit fours. A special chocolate birthday cake added an extra touch of sweetness to the occasion. Finally, the evening concluded with a smooth and satisfying coffee, perfectly complementing the array of flavors we had experienced. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the truffle pastry – a standalone delight that left me still longing for more.

As soon as you walk in, you know you're going to have a great night. The service is the best I have had around the world.

Their drink mixing of cocktails has been dialed into a fine out. The mix of flavors is spot on.

The food was to diefor everything was cooked perfectly and very well presented on the plate like fine artwork.

Great laid out tables for conversation.

This place is selling an experience, not just great food.

Tetsuya's made my birthday celebration truly unforgettable. The food was nothing short of exceptional, presented like works of art on the plate. The service was impeccably professional and attentive, setting a high standard for fine dining experiences. But what truly stood out was their epic wine list, which elevated the entire meal. Special mention to Pak, who provided exemplary care and attention throughout the evening. Tetsuya's is a culinary masterpiece, offering a combination of exquisite cuisine, top-tier service, and a wine selection that's simply outstanding.

Great dining experience, just really pricey. Not some place I would go back to any time soon. Beautiful place though and outstanding service. And of course the food was very good!

Exceptional food, quality service (thank you Manuel and staff), wonderful atmosphere. Oysters to perfection, tuna fresh and succulent, scallop explosive flavours and textures, signature ocean trout absolutely divine, truffle pastries and truffle butter second to none. We were in the private function room for my sister's wedding reception, and they were so lovely to accommodate our children.

Food 5/5, Service 5/5, Ambiance 5/5, Paid $350pp for an 8-course meal with 2 cocktails. We were served by very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Food quality was beyond excellent and met all my expectations. Not a restaurant that we would eat in all the time due to the price but it’s perfect for special occasions. Please note that we booked our July table in March so yes, you really need to book way in advance as tables fill up super quickly.

There are so many elements that make up every single one of these dishes. The oysters were amazing and so was the bread. The trout and pork were also very enjoyable.

Staff were attentive and service was amazing just as you’d expect.

The interior of the restaurant seems kind of dated to be honest. Could do with a furniture/interior revamp.

Also there is parking available for customers at the restaurant if you plan to drive in.

Dined for dinner as a pair.

Everything was beyond immaculate, we had such a beautiful and personalised experience celebrating the end of our year.

Food was incredible, service was thoughtful, pace was well balanced and the dining environment is unique.

Cannot compliment everyone and everything highly enough.

Somehow delicate food, tasty and nicely garnished; but underwhelmed this time! However, they still deserve 5 stars, great service and delicious food. My favourite is the pork belly if I didn’t remember it wrong! We have been a couple of times, unfortunately we heard they are closing down! Let’s hope that’s just a rumour

I had an amazing fine dining experience. The food and cocktails were tantalizing & exquisite.

My favourite dish was the Ocean trout! It literally melted in my mouth! Tasted amazing! So fresh and mouth watering ❤

I think I enjoyed the seafood dishes more than the meat/dessert dishes, but I love my seafood more than anything. I loved the oysters also!!! (They were add-ons) and the caviar was to die for! 🤤

I also love my desserts but unfortunately the desserts didn’t capture my heart this time. The dessert presentations were amazing!

My favourite dessert would be the chocolate stone, so smooth and velvety 😍 Very pleasant and light to eat.

The customer service was exceptional. They were super friendly & attentive.

And they also checked if there was any dietary requirement, so they could cater to our needs!! They definitely looked after us through the whole dining experience.

Returned over the years and remained at a high standard when it comes to food and service. The ocean trout is a signature for a reason, however the other dishes are no pushovers. The airy truffle butter is hectic.

Is there a way to give a 10 star review.
Excellent service, exquisite food, definitely a wow experience.
This is a restaurant that knows what it's doing in every way.
An exceptional experience.

Ate out with 2 friends to treat ourselves. Had been wanting to visit for ages. Wow, food was incredible, well worth the hefty price tag if you're a foodie. We all did the 8 course degustation. One friend added wine pairing for extra $250 ish but struggled to keep up with the wine with each course so recommend this if you're a quick drinker. Would return as I'm still thinking about the out of this world tastes.

Had a lovely dining experience today, had the 8 course and each dish was interesting, beautifully presented and most importantly, delicious. The service was prompt and friendly, couldn't fault it. The dining room felt intimate and cosy, it was decorated with different wares which is a nice change from the grandeur of other fine dining restaurants. The view of the zen garden just outside was a nice touch.

Looks to be a hidden double story dwelling in the middle of the CBD which is a unique story with-in it's own. From the moment we walked in there were staff members waiting by the door to be opened for us. At first the decor and carpet seemed stale. However, you can't blame them for not re-furbing it due to it is believed that the keys are being handed over to developers August 2023.

The scallops, trout, toothfish and the pork (black garlic) were my favourite savoury dishes for the evening. All the desserts were amazing which left us wanting more.

The service was fantastic and the gentleman that had our table is a great asset for the reputation that Tetsuya has developed.

This is the best Japanese fine dining food I have had. Highly recommend dining here and hopefully they find another that suits the business so there is minimal downtime for getting this quality food down on the white table cloths.

PARKING - Enquire about free parking on-site.

We had been meaning to visit Tetsuya’s for quite some time and they did not disappoint. Every dish was well executed and portions were perfectly sized. I appreciate the complimentary birthday dessert - delicious! It would be a nice touch to have some background music as there was a large group on the other side of the restaurant who you could hear quite loudly. The waitstaff were lovely, professional and knowledgeable. A nice restaurant for celebrations (e.g. birthday, anniversary) or small groups. Their online booking system seems to have limited availability so I suggest calling the restaurant directly to make a reservation.

Fantastic food, definitely lived up to the reputation. The confit trout and scrolls (with truffle butter) were a highlight for me. Service was very friendly and welcoming, we were well looked after and managed to secure a private room by coincidence. Overall amazing experience and can’t wait to go back!

Yearly visit to Tetsuya, found out they are closing up in August 2023, well they are moving.

One of the best Japanese and French cuisine in Sydney, my top fave is the bread and truffle butter, wagyu and tetsuya cake.

Unfortunately, Tetsuya cake isn't on the menu and hasn't been for a few years, tips to get it is to pre-order and tell them it's for a birthday.

Amazing service as always and staff are friendly.
