Dera Uma

Came here for an early dinner. Expect more of a food court experience than a restaurant experience, but you don't come for the atmosphere you come for the food. High quality, delicious and also very reasonably priced. I will definitely come back when next visiting the city area of Sydney.

They seem to specialise in Hamburg, Katsu Curry, Toji Don Oyakodon etc, and they might be part of Mappen & Oiden group too? I tried something non-deep fried: Toji Salmon Don, which was yummy. Healthier too (as there are no fried goodness on the counter to tempt you 😆)! Friendly service.

Large portion, decent quality, decent price now that everything else is quite expensive. Can split the mega wagyu bowl of not so hungry. But it's worth it over the large. Approx 30% larger.

This is the go to place for me for pork katsudon. You can see it made in front of you. The combo of pork, eggs, spring onions with the sauce takes me back to Japan. I havent come across anywhere else in Sydney that makes katsudon this well. Highly recommended and not that expensive as well. There are other options such as curry and beef hamburger but I always have the katsudon.

Amazing food, generous portion and great service! Good value for your money. Recommend to go if you’re near Town Hall/George Street/Event and want to dry some Japanese food. Teriyaki Chicken was definitely a great shot!

Been a few times, very authentic Japanese meals and always delicious. Fast service. Good price for the hunger and itch you'll sate.

If your original choice of Japanese has closed for their break, I definitely recommend Dera Uma. And the quality doesn't seem to have changed over the years. Love their curry rice with hamburger steak. The salmon I had today was fresh as well

In a busy food court area on George St Sydney. Dera Uma has the usual wide variety of Japanese dishes at a great price for the quality. The Waygu fishy I got was on par for this type of restaurant. Quick and easy to get served and your food is ready. Take away or eat in I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Definitely one of my go to places for quick lunch wherever I am in the city. Food is always fresh and serving size is decent for the price. My favourite is Toji Katsu-Don with for its nice sweet and savoury balance from the sauce. Seating is limited though.

Very yummy Japanese food. Serving speed is fast. Burger patty in curry is actually pretty nice. I also enjoyed their chicken katsu. Very crispy outside and tender inside!

Reasonable pricing and plenty of seating available. We went at 11am on Saturday and there was only one other guest seated. It is more of a food court than a restaurant but their food was amazing. We ordered a Salmon Bento which included 6 Salmon sashimi pieces, Chicken Katsu pieces, a Salad side, Miso soup and free refillable rice. Their miso soup was Sooo flavourful, chicken was fresh and crispy and juicy. Salmon was fresh and thick sliced which was perfect! Would 10/10 come again to try their other Bentos

Seats are limited and shared by 3 restaurants in the arcade. I wouldn’t call it one of the best you could get in the city as there are a number of nice or even much better options around but still it’s an alright option for a quick lunch.

For dinner the close early and don’t take orders after 7:30pm.

Was in looking for Japanese Curry, this place really hit the spot. Got the combo of pork and chicken curry, the chicken is a lot more tender. Also ordered the DX favourite based on the cashiers reco, it was awesome wife and kid loved it

Friendly service and really lovely food at a good price point. The salad and katsu was delicious! Food was also prepared quickly.

Amazing food, ive been coming here for almost 10 years now and the foods stayed amazing without cheaping on quality or quantity even a bit. Prices stayed the same too. One of the most filling and flavourful toji katsudons you'll have in Sydney l!!

Amazing food. The DX Favourites box is probably my favourite Japanese dish in the area.

Good cheap authentic quick Japanese restaurant. Ordered mega katsu don , freshly cook to order. Just be mindful seating is very scarce and you might share a table with someone.

I love the Wagyu bowl or the DX Favourite. If you are in the mood for a decent feed these are a good option. Honestly I have not tried much else here. The curry hamburger was yummy.
The staff are friendly and when you order the Wagyu they announce it to the kitchen, which is all part of the experience. It just makes that bowl of rice and well cooked flavourful beef taste all the better.

So yeah in summary, eat here.

Went to this place for dinner as a first time customer on the 14th August 2022 where I ordered the regular Sauce Chicken Katsu Bowl. Tastes delicious at $13.90 which is a great price.

I would definitely come here again when an opportunity comes
