Love coming to the Sun Theatre. Old school comfort! Also a great selection of Cafes and Restaurants around the area, if you're looking for something to eat.

Certainly a unique experience watching a movie at the Sun Theatre.
Admittedly the MOST comfortable seating I've ever experienced 👍
Apart from being conveniently located amongst some of the greatest eateries, being accommodated by lovely staff, is also a bonus ☺

Would give the place 10 stars if I could. Ticks all the boxes of what a movie theatre should be, and then some. The icing on the cake is the lovely Yarraville neighbourhood village feel. This is the antidote to the shopping centre multiplex.

We organised a private cinema viewing for my work function and everyone at the sun theatre was a delight to work with. They were so organised and made the day seamless, they were accommodating and flexible. And in terms of price they were way cheaper than other cinemas. Can't recommend them enough!

I surprisingly enjoyed watching Poor Things in this little quaint cinema. Not busy at the time which was around 2pm on a weekday. Movie price is reasonable with good assortment of food and drinks. A bit old but well maintained.

A theatre with a lot of history contained inside and outside of its walls.

The Clean, Art Deco design makes you feel calm and excited all at the same time.

It is one of the few remaining original cinemas in the western suburbs with each individual cinema located within the Sun being named after other theatres that weren't so fortunate to survive into the 21st century. (Trocadero, la Scala, etc.)

Each theatre has its own unique design and varies in size and seating capacity, I saw Asteroid city inside the Grand.

As the name suggests, it was a sweeping cinema with a very high ceiling and many chairs placed throughout, and a piano placed at the bottom left corner for good measure. (which does not play)

You have direct, unfettered access to the sun Bookshop, located inside the former snackbar.

So you can have a quick read, and perhaps make a quick, cheeky impulse purchase if need be...

This is what a local cinema is meant to be all about. Great food and drinks and the movies that they play are everything from mainstream to arthouse and even special events.
I took my brother to see some of the James Bond films during that marathon period and it was a blast. Love this cinema!

It is very well located, the best "food court" you will find for a cinema. It is in the Yarraville food and drinks centre, so many good options to eat and drink before or after a movie, even a late movie.

The Xanadu of independent cinema going. Charming to a fault, relaxing venue in the heart of Yarraville with polite staff & nice snack options. The choc tops are legendary. Best cinema around.

What a fantastic movie theatre. Seats are extremely comfortable and have plenty of leg room. Bar downstairs has good atmosphere. The art Deco style is aesthetically pleasing and gives you a sense of times long ago.

The cinema complex is steeped in history. It has been beautifully renovated and restored. The choc top icecreams are a must have too. Don't deny yourself a wonderful cinematic experience!

Beautiful art deco cinema in a funky neighborhood. Comfy seats and the confectionery isn't insanely expensive like most bigger chains.

Comfortable seating, friendly staff. Shame the movie was a shocker. “Civil War” Don’t see it! Just saying 😄

After going to the Sun Theatre for the last 3 years, I'll never step foot in a commercial cinema-chain again. The Sun has become my cinema of choice:
» Ticket and food prices are affordable and much cheaper than the big cinema chains (especially if you visit on Mondays; Tuesday)
» Easy to book tickets online to secure your preferred seats.
» Popcorn and choc-tops are made in-house, which means they're fresh and tasty!
» Each cinema has a unique atmosphere and is very cozy. I love the plush seats and mini-tables. My favourite cinemas are the Grand and the Regent.
» Pizza D'asporto (for a pre-movie meal) and the Sun Bookshop (for a pre-movie browse) are conveniently located next door.
» Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
» Abundance of parking near and around the building.

A visit to the Sun Theatre redefines the cinema 'experience'.

Best cinema in town. Bummer it's not accessible by trams.

Beautiful cinema. Feels like you are travelling back in time. Old school pop corn and sweet treats. Great for a date night. Definitely check it out!

I've given it 5 stars, but they do need to make sure they have vanilla choc tops in stock 🙏🙏

Great vibe and decor here and such comfortable armchairs with loads of space. Loved their exclusive locally made gin & tonic. Finished off with choc top ice-cream. Can recommend the pizza next door too.

Such a beautiful place, its got an ora of the cinematic history to it. Had an amazing experience watching Oppenheimer in 70mm, totally recommend!
