Beaufoy Merlin lookout

This beautiful spot for taking in a great sunset was just a short drive from our campsite in Hill End. It was quiet place to sit and relax at the end of a day spent exploring the Historic area of Hill End.

Beautiful lookout, just about 2km from the town centre. Perfect for sunrise but not for sunset ❤

Stunning look out point with secret entrance to loop around 4x4 4WD track. On the way up to Merlins lookout there is a road to the right with "no through road" and if you turn there and go past the commerical shed down a bit you can jump onto a 4x4 track that loops around to the Hill End Tip. You will definitely need a 4WD, unlike the bridle track it's a little more difficult

Spectacular views over the holls contaiming so many mines

It’s a bit of a dirt track to get the lookout, but the view, and peace and quiet was mind blowing. Watch out if you take the kids, there are no fences!
If you crave tranquility-come to this piece of paradise.

Stunning views from the lookout, sunrise is a must if you head up there early enough. There's also a tripod pole that faces the direction the sun rises :)

Short walk or jog from Hill End Village Campground. Interpretive panels explain view of past mining activities and abandoned sites.

Beautiful place to go and sit and reflect, great panoramic views.

I love historic places and Hill End is with out a doubt a must see place. The local shop sells great pies and the museum is brilliant.

An amazing panoramic view that looks over to Hawkers Hill.

Well worth the effort to drive out to the spot to see the view of the Hill End diggings that Merlin photographed. Despite the road being dirt, you should have no trouble getting out here with a 2WD.

As an added bonus, if you are into geocaching, there is a cache within 50m of the lookout.

Love it. The view is amazing. Great place for the whole family.

Must visit if you're in hillend.
Fantastic view point with great scenery.
There is a board which shows the golden quarter mile of the mining boom down below.
Bring binoculars and you will be able to see all the mine shafts etc

A fantastic view on a clear day. Its a must do when visiting Hill End.

Amazing. Well worth the drive out. That seat on the edge was breath taking.
Recommended visit if you don't mind driving out a bit on uneven road.
