Cargo fish and chips

Location Location Location. Right on Kiama Harbour. Good Seafood and friendly service. Great place to chill and enjoy Fish n Chips. Calamari Scallops were crisp. Fish so tender and juicy. Even grab a beer or wine.
Definitely recommend a visit.
Disregard the negative feedback. Been here a few times and always great seafood.

Customer service was a delight. He was happy to chatt about our miniature schnauzer and to top ot off, the fish and chips were one of the best we have had travelling Australia 🇦🇺. Will be back before leaving the area. 👍

I was a bit confused, the reviews didn't seem to match up with the experience I had at this establishment. The Fish had a perfect batter to fish ratio, the chips were a bit bland but nothing terrible and the whole dish was perfectly portioned. The lemon was free, trying to find parking was difficult during holiday time. Overall I feel the reviews shown here don't justify the actual experience and quality at Cargo Fish and Chips.

An old style fish and chip shop right on the water at Kiama. There are many places you can sit this close to the water. I ordered the flathead and chips. The flathead was fresh and the chips hot and crunchy. The setup is pretty basic, but this isn't 5star dining and shouldn't be. It's great to just have good basic food and watch the boats and the Pelicans.

We had fish and chips at this place twice, and both times they were pretty good and large servings. Nice view and pelicans around

A very busy place. I could see there were a lot of people hanging around from far as I walked to the place. I ordered the oysters and cooked prawns first, and they were fresh and of good quality. Then I noticed the two gentlemen sitting at a table near me really enjoying their fish and chips, so I went and ordered the fish and chips as well. The fish was "too fresh" to be fried and the batter was one of the best ones I had. Everything I had there were delicious. The staffs were polite and friendly. My overall experience was fabulous.

Great find in Kiama at 4pm on a Sunday! They said they’d run out of chips as I arrived, which was fine. Asked for a salad, he charged me the same. They found a few chips for me in the end, which was lovely. And they chucked me a tartare on the house when I forgot to order it!
Battered flathead was great, garden salad was great, and the environmentally friendly packaging was a big thumbs up.
If they stocked a craft beer, maybe something local, it would have been 6 stars.

Very fresh flathead and perch. Best fish and chips except for Bermagui Fisherman's restaurant but oh so close to best.

Cash only, but such good food. Little pricey but it’s so fresh we didn’t mind. There’s no bins because of the bird life, so employees are more than happy to take your rubbish

Generous portions, tasty fresh fish, great service.
I have been to this restaurant many times for lunch in the last month. The local live pelican who is often found in the shop is delightful. Those in the photo are less tame than Penelope.The seating is just at waters edge.
I usually request "half chips" because the servings are large.
Highly recommended.
Definitely covid safe.
No real problem eating with the wooden forks. One day I will remember to bring my own utensils.

All the negative reviews didn't do it justice in my opinion. If you expect 5 star service, this is not the place. Come get your box of fresh fish and seafood, with boatloads of fries and eat outside by the water. No utensils or plates needed. I found the food to be tasty and quick. I didn't get to meet previous posters' staff complaint but the gentleman behind the counter was very nice and polite. What you get is the fresh fish shack experience by the ocean. See below for what I assume are updated prices. (got the fisherman's basket which fed 3 people well)

I don’t know why the ratings are this bad. Yeah, customer service was a laugh but come on. The food was good. The batter was nice, crispy, and no oily hands after eating.

The woman hates the eftpos machine but will use it. Get over it people.

Would seem from prior reviews that this is a love it or hate it place.
We loved it. Fast, efficient and friendly order taking and filling, freshest of flathead in a light crispy batter, golden chips crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and a good old fashioned home made potato scallop. Cooked in fresh oil at the right temperature is the secret that they’ve embraced. Plenty of shaded tables right on the Harbour edge, looking north.
Ticked all the boxes for us. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or go back.

Unsure as to why this place has bad reviews. Whilst yes we had to pay with cash, the food was still great! It’s classic fish and chips

We had a wonderful lunch here, 8 of us. The grilled barramundi, half fishermans basket, chips, were fresh, delicious, and generous servings. The staff were great, especially the gentleman who looked like Harrison Ford! Outstanding seafood! Highly recommended

Always beautiful service and food. Such friendly people. I have enjoyed both dine in and takeaway. Fabulous food and stunning views. I always love my visits when visiting the coast. Highly recommended.

Lovely spot! The ‘rude’ lady is one of the hardest working people you will see... For those with the negative comments, please imagine your self running this place for an hour or two before you make a negative comment!!! The fish was cooked perfectly btw! 👍

Very fresh fish cocktail, and crispy chips. Better than fish I usually get at Canberra. we arrived bit early for lunch, got the food quite fast.

excellent fish & chips and some nice wine. Great value for money. Only "yelling" we saw was calling out people's order numbers. Staff were friendly and not at all anti-customer as some reviews say. They were fined $5000 yesterday by Kiama Council because Council doesnt want people sitting inside basically, pathetic.
