Hand-crafted pies, pastries & coffee… sounds pleasant, right? Well the aroma of coffee was inviting, the pastries & doughnuts looked divine but ‘hand-crafted’ does not even go close to doing these pies justice.

We’re talking clever, well executed gourmet decadence! Yes, there’s a plain beef & I’m sure that’s amazing but why not try Shaun (lamb, oregano & honey)? Feeling more adventurous? You can choose between Billy (Indian goat curry) or Deer (venison red wine & bacon). There are so many creative combos here. My visit was early so I went for something closer to breakfast, The Foghorn Leghorn - free range chicken, prosciutto, sage & IPA (kinda like bacon & eggs! 😂). I have my favourite award-winning pie shop in Sydney but this was on par if not better. It was one of the nicest pies I’ve ever tasted. For the record, the sausage roll was excellent & apparently his El Toro was better than my Foghorn but I find that hard to believe.

These pies need to be on Australia’s Best lists.

It was a pleasure to meet you Adam & we wait eagerly to hear more of your future plans (please, please 🙏🏻 come to Sydney!)

Hands down best locally made pies, gluten free vege pie personally made within 30min. Mine was a goat curry! & Beef shin, onion with the best locally brewed stout. On top was home made chutney free of charge! Dessert gluten free choc & raspberry brownie & caramel slice all made freshly on premises. Amazingly beautiful 🤩 Thankyou to the very friendly staff 10⭐

My goodness, the best pies & sausage rolls
we had the privilege of tasting today, they were epic to say the least. We splurged with some sweets also, all food was home made comfort food and it just was to die for! Next time we visit family, from Queensland to NSW, we are certainly adding this to our stops. Mate, your food rocks 🥧

Great little town close to free camps. The pies where the tastiest pies we've had for a long time big chunks of meat. With homemade sauce and chutney was lovely. We will definitely call in again on our way through town. And ample parking behind shops for our 7mt motorhome.

Spectacular pies, all the flavours were perfect and I always appreciate a pie that's not the standard beef - though there's nothing wrong with that either! We ended up with a goat curry, a deer, and a chicken pie and all were fabulous.
They also had homemade ketchup and chutney which were both great.

I also indulged with a little strawberry tart, which was probably the most unassuming but delicious tart I've eaten in a long time. The base was a good quality shortbread-style which saved it from the soggy fate that befalls so many berry tarts.

The location is very charming, we sat out on the street and had a lovely walk around Uralla afterwards.

LOVED IT. This Moo Pie was the highlight of my 21st birthday. Tasty, chunky and flaky in all the right ways. It’s a yes from me

Wow, I thought I was buying a basic meat pie, how wrong was I! The pie was so full of flavour I was so surprised. That wasn't enough, I had a sausage roll chaser, and that was fantastic as well. My family had the Deer and Shaun pies and were suitably impressed. I will be back!

Beyond superb. Absolutely outstanding! A cute little hole in the wall bakery and let me tell you it’s so good it will make you want to move to this town! Had a deer hunter pie (venison, lentils and red wine) and it was beyond good with flaky pastry and real ingredients. Also had a crème brûlée tart that was everything you could possibly hope for; crisp crackling outside and creamy inside. Also had a danish which was great and a golden gay time donut that was so sweet and creamy it threatened to give you instant diabetes. This bakery alone makes the town worth visiting.

The Moo + Brew pie I had this morning was hands down the best pie I’ve ever eaten. There were many chunks of real meat swimming in the hearty gravy, all held together by a thin and tasty crust. There will be books written about these pies. This bakery is holy ground.

On a long road trip and stopped in for some morning chow at the Pie Mechanic. Probably the best pie I’ve ever had. Unreal flavour profile, hearty and absolutely DELISH. Would recommend to anyone. P.s pretty bloody good coffee too.

A cute and small storefront with huge offerings. It was hard not to order around 10 things because everything looked so good. They even had bundled pies to take home and heat up for yourself later all ready to go. I ordered a toastie expecting something small, and it was gigantic! A great snack and lunch later. Excellent service and coffees as well.

Man, that moo pie was so good! And the pork and fennel sausage roll was awesome too. I will definitely drop in next time we go past. Great service as well 👏

I come here every Thursday with my daughter before preschool. Coffee is always great, pies and other treats are amazing. Best pies in Uralla? Nah, best in the world.

Probably the best pies I've ever eaten. Absolutely incredible filling. Wonderful crust. They're a bit expensive but it's absolutely worth it. Never get a better pie anywhere in my opinion. Especially if you were a vegetarian. Their vegetarian pies are phenomenal. Beef pies made with local ale and beef shins, not mince. Absolutely incredible food. Well worth the trip to Uralla and worth every penny.

Was recommended to stop at The Pie Mechanic for lunch and glad we did. The dolomite veggo pie was incredible, some of the best pie pastry I’ve ever had! Definitely say yes to their home-made chutney! Delish!!
We also tried an almond croissant and anzac cookie which were good... outshone by the pies though. The girl at front counter was very patient with us as we deciphered through the large menu and helpful.
Some vegan options would set this place above others of similar stature.

Great Coffee, delicious pie with chutney, friendly staff. Very small so most seating outside. Little expensive-see menu prices pic, but worth it.

The best pie I've ever had. Yatala and Robertson aren't even a close second 😆 Fun flavours, quality filling, and that chutney was a nice touch, too!
This will be our new regular lunch stopover on our way to Nan's.
On this occasion we had the deer pie, and goat curry pie. They were both fantastic. The top felt a little greasy but they were really easy to eat and everything stayed together perfectly - I just peeled away the tinfoil as shown by the operator and ate with my hands, my better half used a provided spoon.
Other flavours included beef, mushroom, beef cheek and more.

These are the best pies I have had the pleasure of tasting, and the chutney and tomato sauce made in-house are also worth trying
