What a terrific concept and representation of a historical building.
Added to this the great, effective service and quality food and coffee.
Whilst not that busy - it was a mid-morning Monday, staff were quick to engage and we were made to feel welcome.
Seating both indoor and out, with a variety of options (table/couch).
Coffee came quickly, followed by food that did not disappoint.
Highly recommended for simply grabbing a coffee or to engage the historical information of the building.

An amazing spot to stop for breakfast if you're passing through town. LOVE the vintage decor and the overall atmosphere. The breakfast and coffee were delicious, and the staff were lovely. Highly recommend!

I have become a regular visitor to The Alternative Route in Uralla, as indicated by the numerous photos I've taken during my visits. What draws me back time and again is not only the charming ambiance but also the consistently high quality of their offerings. From their expertly brewed coffee to their rich and indulgent hot chocolates, every drink on their menu is a treat for the senses.

Speaking of senses, the atmosphere they have cultivated within their establishment is truly inviting. The cozy and comfortable setting creates a perfect backdrop for unwinding, whether it's catching up with friends or enjoying a moment of solitude with a good book.

What truly completes the experience, though, is the remarkable service provided by their staff. Each encounter has been marked by attentiveness, friendliness, and a genuine passion for ensuring customers leave with smiles on their faces. It's clear that the staff takes immense pride in creating a positive and memorable experience for everyone who walks through the door.

In a world where consistency can be hard to come by, The Alternative Route stands out as a beacon of reliability. It's a place where you can confidently expect not only a delightful culinary journey but also an atmosphere that feels like a warm embrace. As I reflect on my numerous visits, I'm reminded of the old adage that says, "Good things come to those who wait." In my case, it's more accurate to say, "Great things come to those who return," and The Alternative Route in Uralla is a shining example of that.

Best cafe in the region. We travelled up from Melbourne a few days ago and found this amazing place. Coffee was excellent, Turkish walnut cake & aromatic spiced syrup exquisite, and the service friendly and helpful. If that wasn’t enough, the pressed metal ceiling was an eye catcher. Wish we could come back. @rgh.journey

Apart from the log fire and great atmosphere, the food - we had breakfast and lunch - is not just interesting but beautifully fresh and cooked. This place is so unique that I now divert to Uralla when in the district.

Couldn’t fault anything. Food was terrific and great to see black pudding on the menu, service was sensational and no insufferable background music so ‘normal’ conversation was possible.

Gorgeous cafe in a old, rustic style building. Nice open atmosphere. Food is excellent & well presented! Was busy when we visited & we can see why.

The location is excellent, with indoor and outdoor seating.

The interior of the cafe looks gorgeous with rainbow stained sunlights.

The store has a very homey and comfortable ambience.

The wait for the food was around 30 minutes, so we only got small and quick items. The food was delicious and fast.

The coffee looked great but was lukewarm when we ordered extra hot.

Overall, very great staff and experience. I would recommend coming here.

An exceptional experience, the food, the atmosphere and the people. All first class. As good (or better) as Melbourne or Paris. I had a local red with dinner, there was an acoustic duet playing in the corner. Thanks, Billy

Without a doubt the best coffee stop on our roadie. Nice spacious place with great decor & a very welcoming team of staff. Great long blacks and we had a delicious slice of Turkish Walnut syrup cake.
Will go back for lunch one day!

When in town I always make time for a breakfast/brunch date at the alternate root. It’s usually busy and a little loud but the food does not disappoint (and neither does the coffee). We didn’t have a booking and had to wait 25 minutes for a table. There are plenty of wonderful shops to browse while waiting.

I ordered the bacon and egg burger with the relish on the side, the presentation was impressive. The kids had milkshakes, which they enjoyed but I was disappointed these were served in disposable / takeaway cups.

Wow. A must visit when travelling through Uralla. The outside is quite unassuming but to walk through their doors is a visual treat. The food is outstanding too. The toilets are huge and clean also. Brilliant place.
