Laughing Jack Wines - Barossa Valley

An Adelaide friend recommended Laughing Jacks winery and we visited on Saturday 19 August. We were welcomed by Shawn and Briony who took us through their selection of wines. With the log fire going and admiring the views, it really is a magical place. Almost forgot, the wines are great!

Hidden gem of a family winery (please don't drink ALL their wine!)
Shaun makes wine the way it is meant to be made, with a emphasis on flavour throughout the palate, not in the "modern" way of getting the berries into the vats, then into the barrels, then bottles, and out of their cellar as quickly as possible.

You must try some of his wines to see for yourself!

What a fantastic winery! I'll definitely be coming back as the staff were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about their wines. A very earthy barn feel when inside the venue and the view you look out to is absolutely beautiful.

Absolutely amazing cellar door! We got lucky and had Briony all to ourselves for our tasting. The venue is intimate, styled beautifully and the view is lovely. The wine is also very tasty. Will definitely come back again and in the meantime order more wine!

Just discovered amazing bottle of Shiraz form my last visit to Dan Murphy’s . Will visit you guys on my next travel to Barossa . Keep up good work, very, very nice wine. Loved it.

Everyone I take to ‘laughing jack’ love the exceptional hospitality, the girls are always friendly & welcoming as soon as you walk in. Lovely tasting, lots of info/history and delicious wines! Gorgeous setting with the fireplace and amazing views, a must see when you’re in the Barossa on a Friday or Saturday!! Small family wineries definitely offer the best wine & service!!!

The wine quality is excellent - When available, I always purchase the Moppa Block Shiraz, the Greenock Shiraz, the Carl Albert Shiraz and the Limited Two. You have to be quick, they sell out fast!
I am in a local Wine Club and Laughing Jack wines always present well, often winning "wine of the night"
A few years ago, at the Peel Estate Great Shiraz Tasting (all wines presented blind), the 6-year-old Greenock Shiraz defeated the world's best 20 shiraz (all 6-year-old). It only came in second to the "Grange"!
The field included the "Hill of Grace", the Yalumba "Octavius", the Guigal Château D'Ampuis, in addition to the "Grange"!

Laughing Jack has a broad varietal range, at different price points. You can’t go wrong with any of them, some to share with mates at the barbie, and others to jealously guard to enjoy on those special occasions. I have enjoyed the wines over many years now, and they are near, if not at the top, of my favourites.
I haven’t yet had the pleasure to visit the new cellar door, but it will be hard pressed to top the informal tastings conducted by Shawn in the “big shed”, surrounded by wine barrels with great insights and lots of laughs, true to the name.

I can see why Laughing Jack has so many 5 star reviews! This was a favourite amongst my group visiting the Barossa recently. Beautiful location and tasting room, wonderful friendly staff and most importantly, delicious high quality wines! We left with a few bottles each and will be ordering more online!

We toured several gorgeous wineries today but our pick of the day was definitely “Laughing Jack”. We sampled some delicious wines that were our favourites for the day. Briony had us enthralled with the stories of the history of the region and conveyed Shawn’s passion for his work in such a beautiful and respectful way. The cellar door is so well done too. Every aspect has been thought out and adds to the overall experience. It showcases the wine perfectly. Briony and Shawn clearly have amazing knowledge, passion, pride and respect for what they do and also for their customers. It was such a privilege to get an insight into that today and now we have the fun job of deciding which delicious wines will be coming back to Melbourne.

What a fabulous find this family owned winery is. Beautifully balanced well structured estate grown red wines. Wonderful chilled wines and the cellar door is gorgeous with fantastic views across the Barossa Valley. I had a wonderful hostess Briony who talked me through the wines.

Laughing Jack Wines is a must visit Barossa Valley destination. A tour of the state of the art winery is a hugely rewarding and informative experience to be followed up with tasting the brilliant range at the cellar door.

Drop in, stay a while and sample and buy some of the most luscious wines from the Barossa Valley.

One of our favourite wineries in the Barossa. We visited in early 2021 when the new tasting area was still under construction, but loved it anyway. I'm sure it's even better now! The owners are generous with their time and their tastings, incredibly friendly, and make amazing wine. Will definitely be back.

Shawn, mate, this was the best tasting we've ever had! We had the best time getting to know your wines and sharing the love of your craft. This was genuinely an amazing experience. Usually we find it hard to pick one or two wines that we like, but here the challenge was finding one we didn't love. We can't wait to come back, and we'll be sending everyone we know your way. The afternoon was tailored around show casing Laughing Jacks range of great wines, I have been purchasing Laughing Jack Wines for over 10 years now and it was great to catchup and say hi – Not only have they created amazing wines, but they are both such lovely people - A must to visit

These people are just the best! We have known them a long time and watched their business grow and mature, exactly like the wines. Ah yes....the wines! They are absolutely outstanding. Anybody who hasn't tried them really can't imagine what they're missing. Genuine delightful people, genuine superb wines. What better combination? Keep up the good work guys! We know you will!

If you are visiting the Barossa, Laughing Jack is the top choice for me. Their cellar door over looks part of their vineyard with the Eden Valley Hills in the back ground. This is a family owned and run cellar door that provides you with exception personalised serviced and even better priced beautifully crafted wine. If you can’t get to cellar door get on their website and buy. I recently had a dinner party with only Laughing Jack wines and my guests said it was the best wine they had tasted. For under $50 get the Moppa Hill Shiraz but if and when you can splash out and buy their Limited Two or Carl Albert high end premium shiraz.. You will not be disappointed.

Shawn made our day, so personable, generous and knowledgeable. Best wine tasting we’ve ever had. Loved trying all the incredible wines with the winemaker himself. Definitely a new favourite. We’ll be back next time we’re in SA.
