Cardwell Spa Pool

An oasis from the heat and we were lucky there had been ample rain in the area to replenish this usually dry spot. Only 5 km from the Meunga creek van park.

The blue water, which can be from baby blue to milky blue depending on the light is amazing. The water is inviting and safe to swim in. *

It's unfortunate about the amount of cane toad tadpoles in there. It would not take a huge effort by the management of the area to have someone attend with a net and reduce the numbers that would make it beyond tadpole stage.

I recommend visiting this lovely little spot during the weekdays as there a way too many humans there on the weekends.

* As with any natural flowing water source, take note of the weather as the likely hood of changing conditions will affect the flow.
So be mindful of this.

Please take out what you take in. Your mother is not here to clean up after you.

Take care on the rocks as they can be naturally slippery.

Don't become a burden on the emergency services.

Take responsibility for your own actions and those in your charge.

Bring your camera and enjoy life.

Cardwell Spa Pool is perfect for a fresh water dip, the water was so so blue! We visited here twice on our road trip from Townsville to Cairns and back. We came 2 weeks after floods of 2023 during wet season. Absolutely stunning 🤩

This time we went, I was unable to swim. Water looked nice and cool. Definitely need some rain but still looked lovely none the less. A lot of people were there due to school holidays etc so wasn't able to get a good shot of the spa itself and needs a good flush.

Such a beautiful place only few minutes drive from the main road.

The pools were amazing! We were so impressed! The water was so blue and beautiful! We went in April and it was obviously a good time to go cause the water was flowing and nice! Definitely recommend a stop off!

The water doesn’t run and “bubble” like a spa during the dry season, but it’s still a beautiful spot for a swim. The blue colour in the water is magnificent.
There’s some other pretty waterfalls and lookouts in the surrounding area.

Very interesting place! Especially because of the reason why the water is so colorful. Go there and figure out, it is free! :)

Blooming amazing place. We got there at 830am on a Thursday and not a sole around. Had the place to ourselves for an hour and a half before fellow holiday makers started turning up.

I love pulling in here for a dip breaking up the drive from Townsville to Cairns. It's getting busier each time I go. It's a lovely spot to chill out for a bit.

Now is under reconstruction, so no water in the pools, looks sad, but after the work will be amazing again

Fantastic and refreshing little rock pool with amazing opaque water.

Absolutely spectacular - it's so beautiful. You can swim here. Keep in mind that there are no facilities and it is a dirt road all the way up.

Amazing water that is the most wonderful colour and no cross so able to enjoy a swim only a few metres from the carpark

Incredible spot! The water looks so clear once you enter to swim. Safe area, friendly and respectful environment between visitors. I totally recommend it if you like to witness the magic of nature.

Off the beaten track, Cardwell Spa Pool is a gem. Glistening blue water like nothing you have seen before. Scientists believe the blue comes from a combination of sun, clay and plankton in the water. These col waters are a great place to stop and freshen up.

It is fabulous when full of water... When it's not it is a dry creek bed.
Also there are NO facilities there, so if you are planning a BBQ or need to use the toilet, go before you head there....

Beautiful spot off the beaten track.

Safe for swimming but best to go after a little bit of rain.

Very small clear area along the edge for your belongings, so already feels crowded with 10 people.

Magical spot! Nice to see all the tourists still try their best to keep this place clean. Not always too busy.
