The Moldy Fig

Cajun restaurants are hard to come by in Australia, and the Moldy Fig doesn't disappoint.

The food is outstanding, and if you come at the right time, you'll be treated to live jazz while you eat.

I highly recommend the gumbo. I'm no Cajun, but I like to cook my own gumbos and they still aren't anywhere near as good as the ones at the Moldy Fig.

Very nice food. The staff is super friendly, and there was a live band playing when we visited, which was lovely. We ordered a vegetarian banquet, which is a great way to try a bit of everything (loved the southern style cobs in particular!).

We'll definitely be back next time we're in Melbourne hopefully on a weekend too the live music put us right back in New Orlean! Wasn't quite new Orleans spice level but the hot sauce was amazing and helped heat it up while also being mild enough for our friend who'd never had Cajun food before.

A great little eatery, a southern feel about the place. The staff made you feel like you were old friends and very welcome. Even offered a new menu tasting treat. Looking forward to going back.

The attention to detail is spot on. The flavours of the food and their condiments, the cocktails and mocktails, absolutely wonderful.
A lovely place to go either solo or with a group, you won't be disappointed.

The live music fits the atmosphere to a tee, without being so loud that you can't have a conversation.

First time having New Orleans food, loved it. Great food and service and after watching so many shows/movies set in New Orleans I can now say I have tried beignets so good. Lots of options for vegetarians also and great cocktails.

We had actually gone to The Moldy Fig to hear some friends playing in the band. But the real surprise was experiencing a new cuisine, deliciously expressed and served by very friendly and helpful staff. We’ll be back because we want to explore that menu – and to support a venue that supports live music!

Loved this place so much! As a vegetarian it's great to have so many options available, particularly as part of the banquets. Great atmosphere and will definitely be back.

Thank you for accomodating our special dietary request (Halal) for one person. My friends enjoyed dinner :) my partner loves your chicken and corns. All the meals were new experience to me. but Very tastey! I also got so inpressed with the cusomter service. It was worth travelling 1hr. We will come back again.

Had the best night last night at the Moldy Fig! The band Flying Home were brilliant and a perfect complement to the Cajun Creole atmosphere. Great service and food too. Look forward to returning in the NY 👌🎶🍹

Sunday cheat day and we been so excited to try this cute place for very long time. Never experienced New Orleans food yet so was pretty special dinner for us. Very nice, smiley and welcoming service from all staff was super nice start:)
We tried so many dishes like sweet potato cakes, charcoal prawns, famous Gumbo dish, deep fried cauliflower and few excellent deserts date pudding and apple pie were fantastic finish of our Sunday feast:) overall excellent experience thank you Fig team for your wonderful hospitality. Martini will be back:))

We have been a couple of times and enjoyed the venue. The service 😀 and the cocktails 🍸were good, with some interesting or a twist from the original recipes. The food is good, well priced. The rice is well cooked and not a gluggy mess. A good range on the menu with gluten-free and vegetarian options. I think a little more spice could have been added. However, they are trying to cater for
all tastes. I would go back again.

I have now been to The Moldy Fig for several meals (dinner and brunch), and every time it is a fantastic experience.
The variety of flavours on offer from the menu leave the mind boggling as to what to choose! Most recently I had the quail, oysters, and broccoli rise dish, all of which were exceptional.
The wait staff are very knowledgeable about allergies, and these guys seem to be able to cater to pretty much all of them! On top of that being able to see into the kitchen is always a bonus at restaurants (in my opinion) and it's very cool to watch the chef's work.
Cannot recommend this place enough, I'll be sure to keep going back!

I recently celebrated my birthday at the Moldy Fig with dinner and drinks and what a special way to celebrate! The food was delicious and I wanted to try it all, the variety of drinks was interesting and paired beautifully with the food, and the music was delightful. A wonderful atmosphere, great serving staff and very knowledgeable about their cuisine. I was impressed with the amount of vegan friendly food on the menu as well as how easily they were able to adapt many of the items to suit my dietary requirements. Thanks for a great night!!!

Excellent food (we went for the Jazz It Up A Little! banquet) and the live trio really brought the NOLA vibe. The courses were well spaced and portioned for two people, and was a great recommendation from the waitperson. I just wish it was a little more busy, that would’ve really helped the atmosphere more.

Great atmosphere, lovely staff, yummy food. From what I saw (sitting near the bar, by the front door) this is a 100% covid safe & compliant business.

Food was pretty good, highly rate the cornbread, gumbo and jambalaya. The BBQ meat plate isn't quite my jam, much too sweet compared to the Texan style I prefer.
