Our new favourite place we drive from Castlemaine and for someone who’s been to America and eaten all the chicken this is our favourite place we have found in Oz. Service is 12/10. Couldn’t recommend enough

Friendly and accommodating service from the owner and staff. Relaxed atmosphere with a great selection of local wines. Most importantly, really delicious fried chicken, generously sized, and fresh yummy sides. Thanks Donkey, fabulous experience sitting outside in the sun!

Everything was amazing from the food quality to the friendly staff and prompt service. We had the buffalo and BBQ wings, fried dill pickles, chips and apple pie, all of which were absolutely delicious and filled us up. A strong highlight on our trip to Kyneton!

Really enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere here. Great decor inside and warm friendly service. Far more going on than I’d expected from the outside. Very popular spot with a consistent stream of takeaways and dining in. I had the buffalo wings and corn. Fantastic, tasty and generous serves.

Always a pleasure eating at Donkeys. Mark the owner is an absolute pleasure, the staff friendly and the ambience is quite cosy. They specialize in Fried Chicken, though we've tried other items on the menu and they were good too. Anyway, I would recommend a bucket of chicken to share for two people. They have a great range drinks and if you like something sweet after your meal, they have you covered. We've been coming here regularly over the years snd I can't see that changing any time soon. If you pass by Kyneton, make sure to try this place!

Endless love for the peeps at Donkey Kyneton. A fun, engaged, attentive team who just get it. The vibe is always chilled and smooth. The food, selection of quality grown up drinks & takeaway Margaritas….. whats not to LOVE about this place. 5 million stars!

I loved everything about this place. The owner was so friendly, as was his waiter. The margaritas are delicious and served in great glasses. The chicken burger I had was delish and had a huge serving of fried. Highly recommend!

Found this place after wine tour around the area. What a great find it was. The fried chicken was excellent but what surprised me was how well the margarita is made here. Def one of the best Marg I had in my life. Would def come back for the food/marg and the unique 80s rock and roll deco.

Absolutely lovely dining experience. Staff, atmosphere, and food are all top notch. And generous portions too, cannot fault them!

Don’t waste your time going anywhere else in town (country Cobb comes close), but this place is top notch. If it was In Melbourne it would be reeeally well known. Kind of glad it’s a country town, that way it can maintain its charm. Special shout out to the beer glasses, beer served the way it should be. May seem silly but it’s a detail that I appreciate 👌🏽

We randomly stopped here after our toddler had a meltdown on the way back from Bendigo. The chicken was amazing and we enjoyed the over-the-top milkshakes. Service was great and the food came quickly.

We liked it so much we made a point of stopping in Kyneton for our next roadtrip just for Donkey Fried Chicken. Will definitely be finding excuses to come back in the future.

What a great little find in Kyneton! If you love fried chicken this is the place for you! With great decor and super friendly staff the atmosphere is fun and unpretentious.

Even after moving out of Kyneton, this is a restaurant we continue to travel back for. Not only is the food consistently delicious, the service is 10/10. They always make their patrons feel welcome and they provide a personable service. We absolutely love it here!

Chicken was tender and well cooked. The ambience of the restaurant and helpful staff. The owner Mark has a high attention to detail, and immaculate skills in creating cocktails. 5/5, would return again!

What a hidden gem stashed away in Kyneton
Food was amazing tried a few things here but the don't ask burger was incredible great flavourings and good servings
The chips were so so good also
The shop itself was fantastic well laid out, very very clean and ample space to dine in with lots of decorations

Fabulous food - rspca chicken. With excellent GF And VEGO options. But the chicken is delicious crispy, moist and flavoursome.
Staff were generous and friendly.

Tried the fried chicken and it was delicious, as were all the sides. Filled us up so we'll have to visit the area again to try more out on the menu!
Service was friendly and great with a slight mid arvo rush of people. Very welcoming and friendly.
Also got a great tee to wear! Definitely recommend to anyone in or near Kyneton.

Went there for an early Christmas lunch. I didn't know what to expect, the atmosphere was genuine, homely and comfortable. The food was exellent. As for the thick shakes (I haven't had one in years) the waitress brought them out. The marshmallows and the wafer stick I understood, but why have you put wool on top of my drink. The waitress explained that it was a chocolate fairy floss, tasted so good I shared it with everyone on the table. Would I go back? Damb right I will, I have to go through the menu!

Great food. Great prices. Great atmosphere. Mark is an awesome host. You can't go wrong with the fried chicken - half chicken, chips, coleslaw and pickles for $20. And don't forget those Donkey shakes!!! We'll be back. Oh, and don't forget to wear pants with an elasticized waist!
