Outdoor area out the back is very beautiful, cozy & green, nice atmosphere.
Friendly efficient service & lots of games to choose from.

Also purchased a side of the Carolina reaper hot sauce.. definitely recommend!

What a great little find we stumbled upon. Really good fresh authentic meals, subtle flavours or punchy, spicy meals, depending on your preference. And such good value! We also liked the drinks selection, with lots of local breweries, gin makers etc on the list.

Delicious food and a comfortable atmosphere make for an excellent culinary experience. The bare brick walls and casual scene create an invitation for authentic, tasty homemade meals, which come in an abundance without hurting the hip pocket.
The biggest con about this place is the extensive menu we were unable to try given we were a mere two humans with only two stomachs.
We will be back. This is a must try for anyone.

Everything was quite good and altho not spicy it is authentic Malaysian food. Loved the curry bento box set esp the fish sambal.

I've not had a more welcoming experience in a restaurant before. The owner was down to earth, friendly and fun! Their beef rendang was absolutely delicious and probably better than the ones in Malaysia. Two thumbs up and I hope Baba Hawker goes big! Also super recommended to come for a date night!

Absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and you can definitely feel the love put in making it by the chef. Ben (the owner) is very service oriented and customer centric. Warm and friendly atmosphere. In love with the Nasi Lemak and Tom Yum noodles/rice. If you find yourself in the northern suburbs, i highly recommend Baba Hawker! I travel from South Melbourne just to eat here :)
Also there are boardgames! A social deduction game called Blood on the Clocktower is played here every Tuesday, super nice and fun people to hangout with. Join in!

I always have the nasi lemak (vegan mutton rendang) and my husband had the malaysian bento. It was full of flavour and delicious, in generous portions.

Happy Vegan Eats! We had the vegan Nasi Lemak with the Vegan Beef Rendang and the Vegan Lamb Rogan Josh both were simply amazing! This place has great atmosphere and the staff are so friendly they feel like old friends already we will be back!!!

First ever order: I don't know how it has taken me so long to try this place. Wasted, wasted years spent eating anything other than this wonderful nasi lemak, and the beef rendang. Even as takeaway, the quality is absolutely brilliant. Soft, moist, slow-cooked meats, fragrant coconut and pandan rice, duck curry puff... Just perfect. Can't wait to sit in so I can also try the cocktail menu.

I had Baba Hawker for the first time only a couple of months ago and have now had both dine in and had take away. Most recently we had the butter masala and beef rendang, both were so full of flavour. The satay skewers were also a great addition. Dining in you have a huge range of games to play and great drinks to enjoy with them. With vegan and meat options everyone will be satisfied.

Very authentic malaysian curry. Otak otak was my favourite side dish. Remember to ask for spice level adjustment if you cant take spice. Food can take a bit of time to arrive as the owner is working to his bone trying to do 3 people’s job by himself. Be patient, reserve more time for the meal, have fun with your friends playing the boardgames provided and enjoy the delicious food!

Amazing Malaysian food, lovely drinks, including top notch whiskies 🥃 all the way from Scotland such as Lagavulin and lots of board games ♟ if you are up for a game during your dinning. The food portions are good, $17 for Nasi lemak and similar price for beef rendang. Fresh crispy roti 🫓 and good curry puffs.

Celebrating being out of lockdown is a good enough reason for a visit to @BabaHawker for some Asian fare.

Savoury Sweet Potato Donuts
The savoury donut is lovely, a little spring in the dough, a tasty coconut spiced filling and a delicious slightly sweet, muted chilli sambal which compliments the donut perfectly.

Then I had a bento which comes with rice, roti, tomato chutney, vegetable pakoras and a curry (I chose beef rendang). The pakoras are a vegetable filling dipped in batter made of gram flour and deep fried. The filling was a little dry and needed a bit more cooking so the batter had more crunch, but a dip into the tomato chutney, it improves the flavour.

The beef rendang is full of generous chunks of tender succulent beef immersed in a slightly sweet, creamy but not rich curry that has a slight chilli kick at the end of each mouthful, but not enough to have you sweating. This was tasty and can be enjoyed with the rice sprinkled with sesame seed and fried shallots, or, enjoy the crispy flaky light roti which is really delicious. I love variety and this dish has a lot to offer and enjoy with friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere. Feel free to choose some board games for more fun. A range of beers and cocktails on offer and their menu caters to vegetarians too.

I came here with a friend tonight and we had one of the vegan banquets- the food was awesome, the roti was so yum, and the vegan watermelon ice cream was great! I’m not vegan and thoroughly enjoyed all of the food we had, would order it again next time.
The owner is so nice, and we will definitely be back to play Anti-Monopoly as discussed! 😂

Awesome food with an incredibly enthusiastic owner. Amazing local beer, gins, and whiskey, plus a variety of boardgames to stay entertained! Fantastic experience, will definitely be back.
