Forges Beach #1 Campground

Lots of space the last time we were there. Grass was cut. No rubbish around the place was clean. There is a drop toilet it's as good as they get.

Beautiful beach camping spot with drop toilet (at beach 1). Can have dogs, camp fires and very easy access to the water. Would be very busy on holiday or long weekend, but lovely on a normal weekend

Great place it wasn't busy at all. And fortunately no bogan drop kicks hiding out in the bush. Was very impressed to see police drive through, which to a single senior female traveller was reassuring sign.

What a fantastic place to put your feet up a watch the majestic Murray River roll on by. But beware barkers eggs everywhere irresponsible dog 🐕 owners.

UPDATE;
Twice during the last week of our stay we had a vehicle drive up to our site at around 2am.
One drove past a short distance, stopped then moved off when our lights turned on. The second turned up three nights later, stopped just past our van and reversed back towards us and parked, but left once we turned our lights on and went outside.
So be aware lock up your equipment ~ generators, petrol et al.

Beautiful Free camping spot on the bank of the Murray river about 10 KM out of Yarrawonga. In general, quiet and peaceful, with a great little beach area. There are plenty of excellent sites available during the off season, lots of bird life and the fishing is good.

That being said, it is most certainly a place to avoid over the Summer holiday season.
At which time the place becomes congested, noisy and with lots of yuppies from the City., who really should stay home with their noisy toys.

There is a long drop toilet, which is cleaned on a regular basis by Parks Victoria. Area has been picked clean of firewood, but you can get wood delivered from Yarrawonga, (one metre of Redgum for $140 or Stringy Bark for $100).

The track in is poorly maintained and as a result it is in fairly rough condition, with an abundance of potholes. Nonetheless, in general terms it is still suitable for most 2 & 4WD vehicles.

The entrance into Forges Bend track, from the Murray Goulburn Highway, has recently been upgraded with a new surface. This surface becomes very slippery when wet and if you don’t slow down and take due care when turning onto it, you will have some explaining to do to your Insurance Company.

There is a back way into the camping area, but be warned it is not suitable for vehicles towing a caravan, motor homes or 2WD cars.

From scuttlebut around town, Parks Victoria are set to introduce a maximum stay period of 6 weeks.
