Restaurant Merlot at Lancemore Milawa

The food here is sensational. I loved the barbecued prawns, full of flavour, wow! The steak was also so delicious, the red wine was just perfect with the steak. Excellent presentation. The desserts tasted as good as it looked, yum! Breakfast is also fantastic here.

Merlot Restaurant is the on-site restaurant located at the @lancemorehotels in Milawa. It is named after the wine grapes grown in the vineyard it overlooks. Executive Chef Aaron Jose leads the kitchen, with 20 years experience at award winning, hatted restaurants. 🍷

The menu celebrates a paddock-to-plate ethos, and it does it so well. Beginning with some beautiful complimentary fresh bread, you can opt for a 2 ($85) or 3 ($98) course option (no a la carte).🍴

Unsure if I can pick a favourite, we essentially tried every dish and it was near faultless. The Steak and Lamb Backstrap, both had a perfect crust and cook on them. The Chicken was beautifully moist and full of flavour. Although the Duck Fat Potatoes were nice, we also ordered the Rustic Chips (not listed on the menu) which were even more amazing. 🤤

My least favourite dishes were the Tortellini which could’ve done with a better sauce, and the Fish which was just OK. Breakfast didn’t wow us on flavour but still your best option in town. The Breakfast Muffin was great and they do a good chai latte. ☕

Overall a little pricey but top quality. We ate here for all meals on both days of our stay and don’t regret it. If it’s a nice day, sit outside for a little extra serenity.

You are not really expecting to find such a great restaurant in a such small town. But it’s very classy French-Italian restaurant. Good selection of Australian and imported wines. Well curated menu with delicious dishes. Staff is friendly and prompt. Cannot fault anything. We really enjoyed the dinner and we can recommend it to anyone in this area.

Delicious. The eye fillet steak and accompaniments were divine. Professional and friendly wait staff. Elegant and spacious dining room. I'll definitely be returning when I am next in the area!

Food was outstanding. Cannot fault any of our three courses. Loved how chef Aaron used local produce in his cooking. Great selection of local wines as well. The newly refurbished restaurant works for a greater dining experience. Hats off to Lancemore Milawa.

This is my second time that I've been here, and this time around I had booked this restaurant without realising that I have been here before, as it has been a few years since I have been here and I'm so glad that I did. The service was outstanding, the food absolutely delicious, the staff very warm and friendly and the ambience was nothing short of amazing. I am sure that the whole dining experience at Restaurant Merlot would leave any diner wanting to go back time and time again, as I know that my next trip to Beechworth will include stopping at Milawa and enjoying the experience at Restaurant Merlot. Absolutely outstanding!

One of my most favourite meals in the last 5 years. It was sensational. Have told my partner a number of times how good it is, in the hope that I get to stay at the Lancemore and eat at the Merlot restaurant again.

A surprisingly superb restaurant in the heart of small-town Milawa. Went here for both breakfast and dinner and can't speak highly enough of the quality of the ingredients, flavours and attention to presentation. Staff here are attentive and friendly. Highly recommended!
