Really amazing prices, they were able to fit us in although they were really busy on the weekend. Back in Melbourne it's unthinkable to get salmon and eggs for $7. Very decently priced, service was good despite being busy

What a beautiful cafe. Food was delicious (they easily catered for my food intolerance) and service was beautiful. I highly recommend the homemade gnocchi. Locals love this place so you know it’s a gem. I will be back. Shout out to the lovely group of ladies enjoying lemon tart 🙌🏻

OMG! How great a lunch can be?
Friends have recommended this restaurant to us and we decided to stop for lunch yesterday. The four of us were amazed by the atmosphere, the quality of the meals and the superb taste of every single meal and the fantastic owners/staff that were serving us.
We came without booking believing it was a small café in a small town... the place was booked out. The staff were so king and found a table to sit us. Service was perfect. We had the king potatoes for entrée and they are simply wonderful. Than our meals came and they were so flavorsome, so great! We had the beef cheeks, the dumplings, the pork belly and the gnocchi. All excellent.
This is a place that I will not only recommend to anyone and I would also drive more often to just for a nice lunch or diner. 10 out of 10

Since I first wrote this review, we have returned twice to the King River Café. The food is fantastic and we are trying several dishes. Excellent food! The café owners are so lovely. The first time we've been to the King River Café, I saw an Italian layer cake and did not try it, the second time they did not have any left and the third time they were so wonderful to make one specially for the day I booked and the presentation and everything else was so beautiful.... a real family environment with skilled chefs that are also very sweet and lovely people. Prefect combination. A place I highly recommend to everyone.

We’ve visited this area a number of times but never had a lunch. Reading the menu, we thought we’d give it a go. What a delightful find! Call themselves a cafe, but more accurately, this is a cafe/restaurant. No toasties or smashed avocado here, but a proper menu at very reasonable prices and a wine list that is extensive and charges local cellar door prices, not the normal 100-200% markup seen elsewhere. The owners have been here for 28 years: and they are hard working, honest and focussed on hospitality.
We decided on three of their “entrees” even though the mains looked lovely. Twice baked Milawa 3 cheese soufflé accompanied by an apple based salad, for each of us… daring but executed perfectly. Then a shared beetroot, fennel, fetta brioche tartlet with subtle pastry (yes they KNOW pastry) and an amazing soy marinated eggplant and tofu sauteed with sesame seeds and portobello mushrooms. And a serve of their CRAZY Roesti potato fingers, baked then deep fried. MORE than enough food for a filling lunch!! Washed down with a lovely savoury local Pizzini Rose.
All this, in a tiny hamlet on the way to the snow. We drove 60km from Bright for this…. and will do so again on our next visit. Stop and savour!

A beautiful little Cafe to visit. The staff are lovely and the food was delicious. Will definitely be happy to return here for another tasty meal. The array of fresh condiments they have on sale are all produced locally.

Came by for a quick lunch 3 years ago on our annual snow pilgrimage (couldn't come back because of COVID), and it was excellent then, and it still is now! Finally got to revisit this beauty of a Cafe, and we were once again greeted by the lovely staff and owners who we had a great yarn to. Awesome food and menu, excellent service, and just a great atmosphere with lots of history!

If you are anywhere near Oxley, don't miss a visit to the King River Cafe. It's well worth the detour from the Hume Highway. The food is delicious (their lemon tart is divine), the setting is delightful, and the cafe owners are amazing.
When we had a motoring mishap, they went over and above to help us, while still ensuring the smooth running of their busy cafe. We will always remember their kindness and will certainly visit again.
Highly highly recommended.

Great local food and fantastic hosts.
Always a pleasure to dine here and enjoy the varied menu that Ben and Judy put on. Well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood, and definitely worth a drive if you aren’t.
Great wine list of King Valley varietals and the Lemon Tart for dessert is so popular that they sell them to take home. And you should.

Wow what a great cafe! Highly recommend to stop by and taste as much as you can from the menu. Great portion sizes, everything tasted fresh and cooked to order and the staff were friendly! Beef cheek and potato rosties were superb. The cheeks were so gelatinous and packed full of flavour, and the rostis were so crunchy. Highlight of our trip to the king valley, for sure!!

Wonderful food at great prices, beautiful service and staff were lovely. Deserts! The lemon tart was amazing & cream brûlée so smooth and creamy. Hubby loved the potato fingers (he got 2nds), it came with a housemaid sweet chilli relish that was delicious. Located next to a small park which was great for the kids. 10 minutes off the highway a beautiful gem to visit.

Wow! How lucky were we to get a table on a Sunday without a booking. The food was superb and certainly value for money plus the customer service was first class. Pity we live in Adelaide because we would love to come back to King River Cafe again. Congratulations to the business owners and staff.

Our meals were pork, fillet steak & chicken. Each was excellent. Service to match. Easily the best 'Cafe' we have eaten at; far better than many restaurants.

Very cozy and warm place and lot of options for food.
All ingredients seems to be home made and was quite different from sophisticated restaurants of similar nature.

Service was nice and friendly staff

The staff are attentive and extremely friendly. We were a group of six and and all the food was delicious. Just one thing, in my.opinion the pork was over salted and I did not understand why the dish, which was Asian, had scallops on the plate.

13 or 14 years since our last visit. The Lemon Tart is still superb as are all the staff.

A wonderful cafe that is so worth stopping at. We managed two visits this time though both were only for coffee, tea and hot chocolates. We so wished we could try out that wonderful menu as you can tell by the way the owners/staff take so much pride in their food it’s going to be delicious.
Our lemon tart was truely the best we have had, right down to that little extra crunch of a fine layer of toffee on the top - just yum. The chocolate cake was great and both were GF. Good hot chocolate, coffee and fresh tea just topped it off for us.
