Whyanbeel Arboretum

Absolutely awesome guided flower tour of tropical shrubs and trees on this farm. Spent 3 hours seeing orchids, cordylines, ferns, lichens, vines and assorted interesting rainforest trees. Peter is incredibly knowledgeable of ecology and of each species on his farm. Tours run twice a week, so call first. Great! 5 stars.

Guided tours of a self run flower farm half an hour out of port Douglas. Heard great things but be sure to call ahead and cook advance for a Tuesday or Friday guided tour. See pic attached. Turnoff to the arboretum is sudden, a driveway labelled 419!

Peter’s botanical wonderland is awe inspiring on so many levels. Exotic species collected overs decades of travel to remote equatorial countries. For most people visiting this garden will be their only chance to see such rare plant species. Peter’s knowledge is incredible. We learned so much from him. If only all humans were so passionate about the natural world, what a different world it would be. Visiting this garden was the highlight of our trip to FNQ. A wonderful way for a couple of plant lovers to spend our first wedding anniversary.

I feel so incredibly privileged to have been given the opportunity to experience this amazing collection. Peter’s knowledge, curation, and hospitality are unmatched.
