Had a delightful experience at an over 40-year-old Chinese restaurant. Despite modest expectations, the dishes pleasantly surprised me with their delicious and authentic flavors. While the serving sizes were slightly smaller than other places, it was sufficient. The exceptional customer service, including the uncommon gesture of opening the door for guests at a Chinese restaurant, added to the positive experience. Overall, a delightful dining experience, and I look forward to returning to explore more dishes.

This restaurant has been around for more than 40 years 😮! Located in the middle of CBD, perfect for leisure dining or business lunch. This restaurant is fancier than your average suburban Chinese restaurant, it has a nice vibe & the service here is excellent 👍! So excellent, that they spooned you the fried rice & the chicken (hence I didn’t get to take the proper/neat photo of the chicken dish 😆).

Onto the food, I think they’re delicious & have great variety of menu. I had Tamarind Chicken, as it’s their signature dish & popular with other reviewers. I’d describe it like a sweeter version of Shantung Chicken: delicious & the sauce was addictive, bonus point that it’s boneless 🙌! Prawn in XO sauce and Fried Rice were also good.

Best Sweet and Sour Pork I have ever had. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely go back again.

The most perfect service from the diligent staff here! Lovely space to dine in as well with a clear theme and elegant vibe. Would highly recommend.

The Chinese food here is flavourful, savoury and absolutely delicious (reminds me of my mom’s cooking!)

Food is consistently amazing . If you have the opportunity to get prawn toast (off menu ) you are in for a treat because it's off its head. (Food was so good only got half eating photos )

Colleague's craving for Chinese food in the city centre brought us here. Best experienced with 4pax as more variety of dishes can be enjoyed. Good selection and choices.

2023 update: Still incredible. Eat here. Highly recommended. Spoiled me for other Chinese food restaurants.

BEST CHINESE EVER. Absolutely incredible food—thoughtful presentation, attention to detail, flavors, and lovely staff.

Hot and sour soup was actually hot and sour.

Vegetable spring rolls were filled with delicious mushrooms.

The soup dumplings were on point.

The honey chicken, while perhaps not the most sophisticated dish, was the star of the show, perfectly fried—light and crunchy—-and made with very high quality chicken. (I’d eat three plates a day if I could.) We had no rubbery bits at all. None.

The mixed vegetables and tofu was delicate and lovely. The vegetables were lovingly presented, the tofu fried by angels in heaven.

My children were a little wild while we were there and there were no other children except for one in the lower room, but the staff was very sweet and understanding about small children in a sit-down dining experience. They didn’t seem fazed or annoyed in the least and were patient and kind.

I visited the Fortune Valley Chinese Restaurant on a recent trip to Sydney and was very impressed. The service by the staff was excellent and they were very attentive and friendly. They had no problems answering any questions about the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, with it being not too big or too small, with the tables and chairs being very comfortable to sit at. The food was absolutely delicious.....I had the honey prawns and a fried rice and I can highly recommend both. It isn't particular cheap food, but I don't mind paying a little extra, when it is this tasty. If you are looking for a really high quality Chinese restaurant in the CBD of Sydney, I can definitely recommend the Fortune Village Chinese Restaurant.

Went for dinner last night and had an amazing experience! Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was the real highlight. Not only were the wait staff friendly, funny and attentive but they also chased us down the street when someone in our party left their handbag behind. We’re getting on a cruise today and she wouldn’t have been allowed to board without her license so the team at Fortune Village actually saved our trip from disaster! We also had someone in our party who had to leave dinner early and they still gave us a fortune cookie for us to take away for her. We got to open them all together when we returned home. Overall an amazing experience and would highly recommend if you’re looking for Chinese food in the area.

Very attentive, polite and friendly service, and delicious food!
My Mum loves Szechuan chilli chicken and she was thrilled. The tofu and mushroom hotpot was very tasty! The meals are all very reasonably-priced and large (I was able to bring half of my meal home and give it to my husband).

I feel that they really go the extra mile here. I didn’t tell them that I’m vegetarian, but the waiter noticed that I’d ordered all vegetarian food. She came out of the kitchen and checked if I was ok with my food having been cooked near the meat (or something to that effect). I’m not that fussy, but I appreciated their thoughtfulness and diligence! I’ve never had someone check that with me before.

Our family has been going to Fortune Village for more than 30 years. It is a family-owned business with Simon, your host, being the third-generation owner/manager. Best Chinese food in Sydney. Chinatown is for tourists only whilst Fortune Village is for people who want high quality, consistent tasting Chinese food with the service second to none.

A friend of mine recommended this place yesterday and I was amazed by the food and the quality of service here. The atmosphere here was also fantastic. Must try the Fukien Fried Rice and eggplant dishes! This is my new favourite place!

We had dinner on Wednesday night, very delicious food and good service. It’s the original Chinese food in Sydney. We were very happy.
Simon, Thank you so much.

It was a special occasion saying Au Voir to my cousin from England so a special and memorable occasion was required. In no way did Fortune Village disappoint.
From the moment we walked in mine host Simon (aka "Peter in case immigration is looking for me") we could not fault the care, attention we received. Nothing was too much trouble.
As a small party of 3 we let Simon (and later for dessert, Jiji - sincerely hope I spelt her name correctly) choose our menu. Great call - it was just 100% perfect.
A bitter/sweet night saying goodbye probably for the last time to a close relative, but wow Simon and the beautiful and delightful Jiji (really concerned haven't got the spelling right) made it very special.
In closing Great place, fantastic staff, food to die for. Nee Ha
