Mapo BBQ West Ryde

Didn't expect much when I walked into this restaurant, but I have to say it's indeed a decent BBQ place you can find in West Ryde! The beef ribs were thoroughly marinated, so when you cooked them, all flavours were still intact. My favourite was the spicy cold noodle. Definitely recommended this place, and I sure will revisit.

Great pork belly bbq. Seasoning tends to be on the sweet side for the marinated meats, banchan and the cabbage vinaigrette but overall meal is very satisfying. The shop’s been around for a long time and is looking rather dated and greasy.

Great banchan (shoutout seasoned raw crab) and quick service.

Kimchi pancake quite generous size and good flavour for $15.

Wagyu a little expensive at $45 for 350g and overly fatty but tasty.

Pork neck decent value at $24 for 350g.

Marinated pork is a must try thing. Spicy cold noodle is also yummy. When you order a rice, you will get a lil miso soup which is getting along well with bbq meat! Make a ssam guys and put it in your mouth all at once. Mouthful of meat, sauce and veggies!! So good!

Randomly stumbled upon this restaurant with no expectations and it was definitely worth the visit! 🦀🥩🍲

Good pricing on food in comparison to some other kbbq restaurants and tastes amazing too.

Some good side dishes and even got a side of spicy marinated crab which was definitely a plus 🤩. I also really liked their kimchi, wish I asked if I could buy a box to take home. For the cabbage side dish they also provided refills of cabbage which I have never seen before.

For bbq I ordered pork belly and ox tongue (I believe the minimum order for bbq was 2 dishes) and they were both good. Also ordered the spicy beef soup which was also great, beef was tender and reminded me of corn beef which I personally love.

Would definitely recommend and would love to come back to try some of their other dishes (their steamed egg looked super good and good value).

Korean bbq restaurant with simple menu, plenty of side dish, and great tasting meat.

This is one of the well known bbq restaurant among Korean community in Sydney, and it did not disappoint. We visited on an early Sunday evening and it was packed already.

The venue is laid out like typical Korean bbq place. Grills in the middle of tables, smoke suction pipes above the grills. It was clean but smoky, not a romantic space by any means.

One thing that stood out above other Korean restaurants was that they served spicy raw crab. Usually you'd pay hefty price just for the crab, but it was surprising to see this being just served out as side dish after ordering the meat. I think this alone makes it worth the trip to Mapo.

The main dish we ordered, marinated beef rib, was delicious. Cooked above real charcoal heat, it had lovely smoky smell, soft texture, and sweet and soy flavour. The portion was reasonable.

Never disappoints! The quality of the meats and the cold noodle soup is the best I’ve had!!

Very authentic Korean BBQ and reasonably priced compared to other korean bbq places. My favourite dish is also it’s most popular dish, beef galbi. Highly recommended!

Busy friday nigth, very good meat on beef, suitable for group of friends, chating and eating. busy on friday and weekend.

Meats were tasty and lots of side dish options available.

I have been to the Lakemba/Belmore Mapo BBQ. The quality of the food and side dishes served was just as excellent. At first sight the price listed on the menu seemed to have increased but soon I found that I wrong since the quantity was beyond what I expected (I ended up ordering more ahead and being very very full) I will definitely visit here again, next time to trial cold noodle!

Generous serving portions, & customer service was fantastic!

My family & I had our own serving of the delicious spicy beef & vegetable soup/hotpot (Yuk gae Jung). Upon receiving our food, we realized we could have ordered two soups, yet we all polished off our respective servings 🤤

The ‘ban-Chan’ side dishes were delicious, fresh & well seasoned, ranging from kimchi, acorn jelly, known as ‘mook’ & another marinated bean sprout dish. To be perfectly blunt, the side dishes were not doused in mayonnaise & were traditional Korean side dishes.

Highly recommend.

One of my favourite BBQ places so have been going back regularly for years. Love their marinated port ribs (what they're famous for), side dishes & their bean paste soup (complimentary when ordering bowl of rice) which is so simple but tasty. The owner is very professional & the prices are very reasonable which makes up for the lacking ambience which I don't really expect from an authentic Korean BBQ restaurant. Best to book ahead as the tables can fill quite quickly. One of the best in Sydney, thus is the reason it's popular amongst the Koreans.

Good to see Mapo bbq in west ryde, easier to get to than Belmore, at least from where I live. Must have NengMyun (cold noodle, with cold soup) from here.

The BBQ portions are very good for the price, especially the pork belly. The side dishes are also okay, nothing to write home about but nothing bad.

Service was also really good, they use the correct hot plate depending on the meat being cooked (grill for beef, steel plate for pork and chicken) which is a simple thing many places don't do.

You can tell the authenticity of this place just by the bustling atmosphere and the serving aunty who told you off for putting too much meat on the grille. Did I mention they served marinaded raw crab as a side dish😳 Totally worth the price I paid for the meat!

Good quality meat. Came here with a group of friends and really enjoyed their side dishes and dipping sauce. Please come early during the weekends as they can get quite full from 6pm onwards. We had booking so it was easy!

Kind friendly staff that even cooked out BBQ for us saving us the effort. Good experience and great food. Definitely a good dinner choice if you are in the area 👍
