Dr Taryn Bloom - Sydney Child Testing

We had heard that Taryn was the best of the best, and after visiting her recently I understand why. From the moment she opened the door my otherwise shy timid little boy was comfortable, engaged and excited to get started. He did not even raise his head to say bye as I left the room for his assessment. After the assessment Taryn explained the raw data and answered all of my questions. The final report was made available to us within hours! My son asked when he could go back, he'd had so much fun. In a world so isolating and hard to navigate for our gifties having someone like Taryn available to help guide and advise is actually a gift in itself. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Taryn and will continue to work with her for both of our children.

Highly, Highly recommend Dr Taryn Bloom for your child testing. I have seen Dr Bloom now 3 times, across 10 years for my two children. I would never go anywhere else. Her reports are thorough and extremely well written (and as a teacher, I have seen reports written by others) and she takes the time to make parents and child feel as though they are extremely valued, interesting people. With a deep interest in children accessing best outcomes in school Taryn is my number 1 in NSW for child testing and is regularly recommended in the NSW gifted and 2E communities.

When we were searching for someone to test our then 3 year old son, Dr Taryn Bloom was recommended by numerous people including our GP as the "best". She is well known in the gifted and 2E community so if you are looking for someone who can build rapport with your child and bring out their true self, I highly recommend Dr Bloom. She has since tested both my children and helped us advocate for their education. Dr Bloom is deeply experienced in what she does and I found her reports to be informative and filled with practical recommendations including things to watch out for. I note one review on her responsiveness - we have never had any issues with this and in fact, experienced quite the opposite. Recently, we needed an assessment and report within a short timeframe due to a school change and Dr Bloom went over and above to accommodate this. Taryn, thank you so much for the wonderful care you have shown us and our children. We are forever grateful and I know you have helped many in the gifted and 2E community.

Thank you Taryn for providing a fun and at ease environment for my child to be assessed. He truly had an enjoyable experience and said that he wanted to go back again to play. Your ability to put him at ease and get him to warm up so quickly is amazing as he usually takes a lot of coaxing to settle him into unfamiliar situations. Taryn is a warm, kind, inclusive, beautiful person. She is also incredibly insightful and thorough and was generous with her time, attention and manner to my child, making the assessment process very smooth. Her report was incredibly detailed. I cried with relief when reading it that someone so clearly encapsulated my child so quickly and succinctly. The report is proving to be super useful with our psychologist, paediatrician, school, and in determining next practical steps to support my child. I have been delighted with Taryn's level of service and skill and highly recommend.

I can't recommend Dr Taryn Bloom highly enough. We suspected giftedness in our 6 year old daughter and booked an assessment with Taryn after receiving a recommendation from a friend with gifted children. She was incredibly warm, genuinely caring and friendly and she made my daughter feel at ease right away - so much so that my husband and I were able to pop out while her assessment took place. My daughter later told me that it was a lot of fun and she really enjoyed it. After the assessment, Taryn went through her findings and suddenly everything clicked and made sense to us. The full report came back about two weeks later. It backs up everything we spoke about and more and will form a vital part of my daughter's future - socially, academically and emotionally. My husband and I (and her school) now have a greater understanding of her needs and behaviours, which is incredible. We are so glad we contacted Taryn - it's the best thing we could have done for our daughter!

We recently had our son tested by Dr Taryn Bloom. Taryn had been highly recommended throughout the gifted community and is known as the gold standard in academic testing.
We were nervous that our son may not want to participate in the testing as we have had feedback from school that he can be difficult to assess.
Taryn was incredible with our son, they built a rapport straight away and we were able to leave him and go and have coffee.
Taryn gave ample time at the end of the session to discuss her findings. Taryn went above and beyond to give us her report so we were able to approach the school before the end of the year.
The principal at the school said it was one of the most comprehensive reports she had seen, and they have implemented all of Taryn's recommendations.
We found Taryn to be warm and empathetic and our son said he loved the tests.

We took our 5yo son to Dr Taryn Bloom for a gifted/talented assessment after being advised to by his daycare teachers. This was something very new to us and Taryn was very helpful and professional. She made us and our son feel very comfortable. He really enjoyed doing the assessment with Taryn. She provided us with an insight on the day and very thorough report and recommendation letter later which we were able to submit with his school enrolment to ensure he has access to the right kind of learning environment for his particular learning style. When we were first advised to get psychometric evaluations done for our eldest, we had very little idea about the process or outcomes, so it was particularly important to me to try to find the best person for both my child and for us, as parents navigating this area for the first time. Taryn’s name came up again and again in both gifted and 2e groups, and in hindsight it’s clear to see why.

Taryn is excellent. From the moment I contacted her, I was more at ease about the process. She was so warm and helpful, and patient in answering my questions. She was accommodating and proactive in making sure the appointment worked for us (factoring in my child’s age and personality). My son was nervous prior to the appointment, but the moment he met Taryn that completely evaporated. She is incredibly warm - and genuinely so - and sparky, fun and above all else, kind. We were both instantly at ease, and my son had no problem with me leaving them to the testing. He loved the testing process, which is saying something for a kid who tends anxious and can be perfectionistic. I have absolutely no doubt that Taryn’s outstanding personable approach ensured he could demonstrate what they were capable of and leave little unexplored. Taryn was very patient throughout the whole process - she didn’t rush any step of my son’s testing, and then spent considerable time giving me the lowdown afterwards while he played happily in the garden. She answered every question I had and was so generous with both her time and explanations. This was followed by a highly detailed, clear report which has been invaluable in the process navigating school stuff (from testing conditions to extension opportunities).

Taryn has also since gone above and beyond, responding with generosity to help us navigate new opportunities for our child. Her generosity with her time, despite being so highly in demand and so busy on a daily basis, is next level, and so unusual in any specialty field. But that’s Taryn for you.

We have since had our second child evaluated by Taryn and experienced the same incredible warmth and generosity from Taryn, accompanying the high quality, detailed, meticulous testing and analysis. At this point we had a better understanding of the importance of the testing for kids who might have needs outside the norm, and I can’t tell you how good it felt to contact Taryn to book in testing without hesitation. A couple of years between our two kids’ tests, but both experienced the same kindness and positive energy, and went through the same rigorous, careful, consistent process. Consistency, accuracy and reliability are absolutely vital in this area, and Taryn is outstanding on all fronts.

I have no doubt whatsoever that the process both my children went through with Taryn was of the highest quality. Not only was she excellent with both my kids (who have quite different personalities and needs), but she was also generous and patient with me, a parent navigating this area for the first time. When I reflect back on the process of deciding who to use for psychometric evaluations, and weighing up costs and waiting times and so forth, I’m so relieved I made the call to use Taryn. It’s no exaggeration to say my kids would be in quite different circumstances now, for the worse, had it not been for Taryn’s careful testing, reporting and follow up.

We recently had our daughter tested for giftedness by Dr Taryn, and it was a wonderful and positive experience for her. Dr Taryn is professional, personable and an absolute expert in her field.
If your young one is a little shy especially with people they’ve met for the first time, you can be assured they’ll feel comfortable and calm with Taryn, and this is due to her bright nature and experience.

I am a Paediatrician with a special interest in Gifted Children. Dr Taryn Bloom is the psychologist I recommend for children who are suspected gifted to be assessed by. She assessed my 7 year old son and did a magnificent job. The experience itself was wonderful for both my son and I. The report she provided was outstanding and will help me to advocate for my sons needs and accomodations in school. Highly recommend.

Had both my daughters recently assessed with Dr Bloom. We traveled 45 minutes to get there. It was well worth it!! She was amazing with my girls and made them feel so comfortable. Highly recommended.

Extensive testing and quite detailed reporting produced for my daughter. However poor on follow up- made numerous attempts to contact Taryn to discuss the report, results and it’s implications. Tried various avenues but was never able to get any response or even acknowledgement. Gave up in the end.

Have emailed via there website on now 4 separate occasions over 3 months now. Their auto response text advises contact will be made within 48 hours. Still nothing.
