I read the other two reviews and was shocked, as my MANY experiences are the complete opposite!! We go to Sammies about once a month, the food is great, prices are cheap, the staff are friendly and helpful... the only down side is that it can be a little noisey with lots of people in there :-) Their pizza's are so good we will often take one home for midnight munchies... We have been going to Sammies for years...and will continue to do so. Cheers

The pub itself is a great looking old country pub that has retained some of its former charms however there is not a lot of good i can say about Sammies. We visited on the Easter weekend and were greeted by a lovely lady who seemed more inconvenienced by our arrival rather than accommodating. Upon arrival we asked for a table for our party of 9 and were gruffly told ' I will have make one up' yet there was already a suitable table set. She proceeded to tell us to come back in 1/2 hour as they weren't starting service yet which was ok as we wanted to grab some drinks before dinner anyways.
We returned and was ushered to the table already set up and told to get our own menus off the counter. Once we did that and were reading through them she comes over and tells us that they were sold out of chicken barr one item which they had very few of.. Now the menu consists of mainly chicken dishes so running out should not have been an option. Anyways we ordered from the very few remaining dishes available which when came out were very disappointing

Garlic Bread - 4 pieces of shop bought garlic bread sticks roasted under the grill
Cheesy Garlic Bread - 4 pieces of shop bought garlic bread sticks roasted under the grill with grated cheese added on top
Cabonara - Sloppy oily mess with split sauce and sprinkled with cheddar cheese. That hot it seemed to be reheated in the microwave
Beef Schnitzel - Size was ok. Over cooked tough as leather meat
Garlic Sauce for the Schnitzel - Flavourless, dont waste your money.
Garlic & Cheese Pzza - McCains you've done it again!

VEGANS dont even bother. When asked if they could change a dish to delete some items to make it vegan they couldn't or quite possibly wouldn't as it was too hard...

If there was a zero star rating you just got it.. Will definitely keep driving past this restaurant as the food was well below par and to think that you ran out chicken on what would be the busiest weekend of the year, did you not think to go next door to the supermarket and buy some extra chicken to get you through???

Customer service was very poor and rude. My fish was paper thin, had thicker batter then fish. Tasted like it had been cooked then cooked again.
