VEX is definitely not your usual kind of wine bar. It has a laid back vibe, perfect for a chill night out. I love their concept of less is enough. Their dishes were simple but with a complex flavour profile. Their menu was plant focused with a lot of pickled elements. As a meat lover, I really enjoyed our meal. Their two protein dishes were perfectly executed! Both the fish and steak were cooked to perfection. I couldn’t stop drooling over the sauce of the steak! Our highlight was their house made sourdough with a smokey butter. We ordered a second one so you know how good it was! Their wine list was also extensive. Would absolutely come back again!

Let me be honest; we ordered most of the things on the menu and nothing disappointed. The flavours were clean and simple, but so well done it is obvious that the chef in charge knows their stuff. The wine pairing by the sommelier was on point, and the wine, although it needed a bit of time to fill out, was great.

But the best part? It's always going to be the dessert!! Cacao something and it was just incredible!

I have been to Vex five times and every time it is incredible. Unlike some places that rely on a go to creative option that stays on the menu Vex seems to keep whipping up delicious food using simple ingredients but in ways I honestly do not think I could have imagined. Plus we only get vegetarian food and they always have many options or plan for a item switch out. Every time I leave there I think "that had to be the best meal I ever had".

The owners run the FOH and kitchen so for a high quality restaurant it is still quite down to earth.

Only a few months old, Vex Dining is a smart, modern bar | restaurant presenting impressive food from a relatively small menu and an interesting beverage list. Owners, Chefs Florian Ribul & Rory Kennedy, and wine guy/front of house, Owen Probert pride themselves on ‘the best quality, ethically farmed and caught produce possible’ and, according to Florian, ‘slightly left-of-centre flavour profiles.’We loved the fit-out, the food, the service, the wine. The locals should consider themselves very fortunate to have this gem in their hood!

I’ve been here three times in the last two months and every time it has been sensational. Excellent service and food, particularly like the focus on vegetables.

Had a great experience. The food was amazing. Most dishes are vegetarian, so delicious. I would highly recommend you eat here. Staff were fantastic and friendly, very knowledgeable. Definitely be back.

Out of all the restaurants in Melbourne, VEX has the most creative and ambitious food. The service was superb and the atmosphere is relaxed chic. It will not disappoint foodies.

My absolute favourite in all of Northcote. Intelligent, surprising and thoughtful food (and heck, it’s tasty) big, big fan of the wine list too. If I could, I’d start every dinner with a VEX g&t and oysters for the rest of my life.

This place is a gem. The food is incredible, the service is impeccable and the price is definitely reasonable (worth it! No need for the maccas stop otw home). Sometimes they say less is more so I’ll stop typing now.

Had a great dinner experience here last Friday. Set menu was really fun and vegans are easily accommodated. The sorrel sorbet was out of this world. Really friendly waitstaff too. Cheers!

This place is an standout in Westgarth! We had dinner here last night and the food/service were exceptional. Not to forget the oysters...an absolute must! Would highly recommend 👌
