Criterion Hotel Gundagai

We stopped in Gundagai on our way back to Sydney from Melbourne. Stumbled upon this hotel for dinner, and everything we ordered was delicious. Buffalo wings, chips, pizza, Caesar salad and sticky date pudding. 5 stars!

Had dinner in the bistro, absolutely exceptional 3 mains ordered . The lamb cutlets, Rump steak and Salt and pepper Calamari $73 dollars total.
Food was excellent perfectly cooked beautiful exceptional price and food come out in about 15/20 minutes from placing order.just a perfect country pub

This is a pub room, so the bathroom is shared, but what a beautiful Deco pub it is. Immaculately kept. The bed was super comfy. Air conned room with a shared veranda and kitchen. Will make this our halfway stop tween syd and Melbourne from now on. Many thanks to the staff who waited for our arrival.

Pub review: Good price and good quality. Rump steak and beef salad were very tasty and well coocked.

Decent pub grub, lamb cutlets were amazing, good size portions. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great meal. Steak was cooked to perfection and the schnitty was delicious. Real chicken ... not that pressed stuff. The place to go for a meal in Gundagai.

Great place to stay, good food and bar downstairs with pool tables.
Upstairs I stayed in the king single room, it was nice and clean, pleased it had its own split system air-con/heating and a tv.
Only critique I have is the wifi, I had no phone reception (Vodafone) when I asked for the wifi password at the bar downstairs I was told ‘it’s only for guests’ when I said I’d stayed there the night before it didn’t make a difference.
Would definitely stay there again though, thank you team.

The food was delicious,
I had salmon and mash potatoes with vegetables and garlic sauce, my partner had scotch fillet steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables, meals were so delicious

Great country pub at the heart of the community. Friendly bar staff, full of locals enjoying themselves on a Saturday night. The satay chicken pizza was quickly eaten. The courtesy bus was a major win—and the driver was an absolute legend! Thank you

This hotel met all my expectations of a good country pub on a Saturday night - friendly service, vibrant atmosphere with lots of locals having a good time at their “local” and good pub food at reasonable price. The rooms and bathroom facilities (no ensuites) upstairs were well appointed and very clean. The thick walls and fully carpeted rooms and corridor made our room virtually soundproof. The shared and well appointed Common Room with outside balcony with excellent view over the main street and to hills beyond was an added bonus. Worth calling in for a drink if only to check out the evocative mural depicting the devastating flood in the 1850’s. We will return when next travelling the Hume Highway.

Good value, don't leave it too late cause I do shock when running out of ingridiots

We had lunch here the last 2 Saturdays while travelling back & forth to Wagga with our caravan. Lovely food & drinks, all reasonably priced. The lady working in the bistro was just lovely, couldn't have been more helpful.

Perfect little country pub. The Volcano pizza is the tastiest pizza I've ever had.

This is a real old style country pub. We went for the bistro, which in terms of decor is very plain, but the food was wonderful. The pub was highly recommended by those in town and it was very busy pushing out bistro meals for eating in and take away as well as acting as the local pizza takeaway. I had a chicken caesar salad which was brilliant with a light sav blanc from the bar. We shared a dessert of sticky date pudding which was rich and sweet with ice cream. Nothing to complain about here. The foid was great.

Best option in town in the evening (Tuesday). Staff were friendly and the Volcano Pizza was yum!

Good food. It's much better quality than the average pub food although the menu is similar. Even better, the food comes on plates, ( rather than the trendy but awful plastic basket). Well done Chef & staff!

Amazing food and nearly everything was re-usable or recyclable. Definitely a gem.

We stopped over on both directions from Central Victoria to Hunter valley and really enjoyed our crumbed lamb cutlets. Sundays are pizza only and they looked great!
