What a fun place to stop and break up the monotony of traveling on the Hume. The big koala stands prominently in front of Oliver’s restaurant in Gundagai. It’s cleverly designed with a big hole in the back for a few children and even a small family to tuck themselves inside for a photo of themselves being embraced by a giant koala. Took our son to see the big koala on our way to our holiday! Easy to access and there are amenities, food and it’s a good place to stretch your legs.

Nice place with many eateries and Shell petrol. Can spend good time having lunch. Toilets also available at Oliver and KFC side.

What a great tourist attraction the Big Koala is.
I stopped here to see the Dog on the tuckerbox and this big icon enroute to Wagga Wagga during February 2018.

Surprisingly small compared to the Giant Koala between Adelaide and Melbourne, but looks much friendlier. Great for a fun rest stop.
