We came here for fish and chips and we loved it!!! It’s so good we came again before heading back to Melbourne. Fish was fresh and the potato cakes didn’t taste artificial and flour-y. Staff is very welcoming! (Thank you for cutting the lemon we brought) Would highly recommend when you’re around the area!

Needed a quick bite before heading to the festival at the racecourse.

The moment you enter, you are greeted with a smile and made you feel very welcome.

There is seating inside and outside, and the lovely (owner I think it was) brought our food out to our table.

The serving size is massive and I love how the give you loads of lemons and sauce.

You could tell they use quality fresh oil and it tasted in the end result.

The chips were cooked to perfection and seasoned well.

The fish was also cooked to perfection and just pulled apart so easily (and you could tell it was FRESH and not frozen) and just melted in your mouth, the batter was crispy.

I was always told you can tell if a place cooks squid correctly, they have good chefs/cooks, well this place does, the squid was to die for, one of the best tasting crumbed squid I have had in a long time.

I don't like how some places over batter their products but this place has it worked out to a T, just the right amount of batter.

What I don't like about some places is sometimes you walk away and you have the fat taste sitting on the top of your mouth, well not with this place.

If I am in the area, I would definitely go back.

One of the best fish and chips that we have in Melbourne. The fish was very fresh definitely did not disappoint. Staff was very nice and was explaining the different fishes. There are a few tables inside the shop but there is also outdoor seating as well (take note can be cold if it is windy).

There are only a handful of places on the Peninsula you can be guaranteed to get Gluten Free fish and chips, and Yabbies is, in my opinion, the very best.

Almost everything on the menu is available GF, and its always available. Fantastic tasting food, cute little venue and very friendly service.

We first discovered this place four years ago, and since then my family basically stop here for lunch or dinner whenever we head down to Mornington Peninsula. Quite simply the best fish and chips in Melbourne. Crunchy batter and fresh fish, perfect every time. Staff are always super nice too!

Love having tasty coeliac friendly GF Fish and chips. Hubby loves their normal options too. Always under the pump and currently trying to fill vacancies (like everywhere) so book ahead or order in advance and you won't be disappointed. Delicious and served with a smile
Please remember to be kind to those who serve us so well.

This is by far the BEST fish and chips I have ever had. With my husband being coeliac it has been so hard to find ANY kind of gluten free take away worth eating. The best fish and chips ever!!!!!! You have yourself regulars now!

went here last friday with my partner upon reading all the positive reviews of this place, and the food surely lived up to our expectations and more! chips were crispy and did not taste like oil and the fried seafood tasted fresh and felt soft in the mouth with a nice crunchy exterior. may be the best fish and chips in victoria, will definitely be coming back!

Came here with a big group of people and ordered the fish and chips . It is good! The fish is very fresh so as the calamari and prawn . The calamari is VERY BIG compared to normal size and is also very soft . Definitely recommend !

I drove from Dandenong to Yabbies bc I wanted to try out their fish and chips and I certainly wasn't disappointed. My order was a piece of Blue Grenadier with a small (?) Portion of chips. (2 much for me hehe) with 3 calamari rings n tartare sauce. I parked at the park near the beach and started to eat my chips which were beautifully cooked along the calamari rings. Calamari rings were perfect with a beautiful crunchy outer coating. Soo much better than other places I've eaten over the years.
The fish was very flakey. A great taste n batter was a little bit broken but sooo good with the tartare sauce. It's worth the drive from Dandenong. I've eaten chips overseas in Holland and in Philippines only a couple months ago for fish in the township of Poro on the island of Camotes off the coast of Cebu in the Philippines 🇵🇭

Amongst the sea of mediocre burger joints littering main street this is the one to go to if you want a "real" burger. None of this overpriced gourmet nonsense that you get elsewhere in Mornington. Just real service and quality burgers, fish and chips and their gluten free options are also great 🙂👍

So I'm thinking of relocating to Mornington just so I can call Yabbies my local !!

Probably some of the best fish and chips I've ever had (and I've had a lot!).

Tempura battered delicious flake, amazing chips and hands down the best potato cake I've ever had the pleasure of eating.

The owner (I think she was the owner) was really friendly and accommodating.

11/10

Thanks Yabbies 🙏

This place has some of my favourite gluten free fish and chips in Victoria! I remember going to Yabbies growing up in Mount Martha. I've now moved away, but love returning to the area for visits and was thrilled to rediscover Yabbies. The current owners have done an awesome job making the store look bright and fresh, and I really appreciate the amazing gluten free options that are both delicious and well priced!

My partner stumbled across this fish and chip shop yesterday in Mornington

I am coeliac so seeing gluten free available always makes me excited. And yet nervous as some places say gluten free but arnt safe for allergies but not this fish and chip shop!

I went in and asked all the usual question about cross contamination and was happily met with very knowledgeable staff. They have there own separate fryer for gluten free, with a colour coordinated basket, they also have one person dedicated to cooking gluten free when busy to prevent any accidental mishaps. Almost everything on the menu could be made gluten free.
It was one of the best fish and chips I have had sense being diagnised coeliac my non cd partner tried mine and he too couldn't tell any difference.
I end up in hospital from the most minor trace amounts so eating out is so scary but there confidence reassured me and today I feel a million bucks so they definitely do practice what they preach!
Great value for money
Great tasting food
Very knowledgeable about coeliac disease and cross contamination can't wait to eat here again

Went with my family on the weekend. My sister is a celiac and she had no problems with the food, it was fresh, very tasty and no negative reactions after eating happened.

For the gluten eaters in my family we had souvlaki with lamb which was really juciy and tasty.

We ended up getting some extra potato cakes with our order due to a mix up (super good who can turn down free food) and the deep fried mars bar was delicious. They cover it in a doughnut type batter with cinnamon.

The staff were all super nice and really accomadating my sister's celiac needs as well.

10/10 will definitely be going back.
