Wattyl Paint Centre Port Melbourne

This is an excellent paint centre with great products in a well laid out store, always with tempting great specials on the shelves and floor. The self-serve coffee machine and cold water on tap is also a nice and welcoming touch, great for when you're waiting for your paint to be mixed. The staff is very helpful and a special mention to Tom who always goes over and above. Highly recommended.

Gold standard of customer service. I ordered paint at 4pm online for click and collect, the next day Josh rang me first thing advising the store i had ordered from did not have stock and he would take care of it and have it delivered. Within 3 hours i had the paint in hand. This is how you do customer service! Kudos Wattyl!

Best paint store in the area. Stocking Purdy gear which is hard to find. Huge range and friendly staff, especially Ian who is always happy and smiling.

Solver, Wattle products I find reliable, and it was good to have a shop close to the job.

Great location with ample parking. However my overall experience was less that superlative. I found the $145 tin of stain I needed but could not get a color match on another project - no paint color scan I guess. Anyway, the staff are not thick skinned and take offence when it is insinuated that they don't know anything about the art of color matching. So they sent me off to Bunnings, minus the tin of stain I might add, albeit the factory really needed that Wattyl stain.

I went into the Wattyl store today with two samples (one off white and one light brown) I cut from walls at the Westin Hotel to get colour matched as close as they could to the existing colour (90-95% the same). I was the only customer in the store at the time. I waited there for 1 hour and they had not completed the first colour match. I told them it was a joke and taking too long. I told them to get the drums delivered to my workers in the city as soon as they are completed as they need them urgently. After 2 hours I spoke to the store and they advised me they were still working on the two samples and neither one were within 80% of the colours. They then tried to blame there tinters being different to the ones used previously at the Westin. I then asked how do they know the samples I brought weren't Wattyl paint. They didn't have an answer. I cancelled the order and went to Haymes, who managed to do colour matches of both colours in under 15 minutes. The Wattyl staff made no effort to rectify the waste of time they caused me. I do not recommend this store if you want colour matches or anything done promptly.
