Giants' Table and Cottages

This little collection of cottages had everything you would require for an extended stay. Decore was very much last century, but everything was clean, tidy and worked. Could easily set up for a few days completely self contained. Mayden also has an EV charging station just off Kallista Road and next to the cafe.

Close to the Maydena bike park, and great location. Cabins have everything you need including the internet considering the location.
Plus there some bush walks close by, and refreshing creeks to sooth aching muscles after big day riding.

The rooms here are in a varying condition. Some are recently renovated and others need some work. What makes this an exceptional place to stay is the friendly hosts, nothing is too much of a hassle. They were thoughtful and friendly. Thinking of what the guests would need and offering them the services.
The food in the restaurant was fantastic, quite a surprise to find such great food in such a remote location.

Fantastic restaurant with lots of space and great food we ended up eating there twice in a row. It’s a lovely set up with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. A good variety of drinks and cold beer on tap. The food, which includes some traditional South African cuisine was delicious! The calamari steak was quite unique and so tender. Even the fries were awesome. The meat dishes were fantastic but the vegetarian lasagna was also tasty. Friendly and fast service. A great way to end big hiking days.

Nice quiet location, saw a platypus in the pond out back which was really nice.
The room we had was a little on the old and tired side. I didn't have an issue with it but the other i was staying with did mention it. I'd prefer the price to stay low rather than a referb pushing the accommodation cost up. Book way in advance as there isn't much accommodation in the area.

Spent several nights with our son here. He was riding Maydena bike club whilst we drove up to the Gordon Dam as a day trip.
The accommodation is very good, make sure you bring your food requirements as no supermarket.
There is a cafe and the bike club also does pizza and burgers 🍔 etc.

Came here with a couple of friends whilst on a road trip. It was an absolute delight to be welcomed in for dinner in such a warm and inviting space. The food was outstanding and came in generous portions. The entree of a freshly baked loaf of bread straight from the oven was a brilliant way to start the meal. Excellent vegetarian/vegan choices. Plenty of fantastic beer options. We had a chat about the local area and learnt a little bit more about the history of the place and the amazing forest just down the road. Will definitely be back if we are in the area again. Thanks so much!

We called in for a meal Saturday evening. The owners were super friendly and very welcoming. The beer / wine / spirits available were incredible. I had some great beer from the Albert brewery for the first time! Delicious! Ordered the steak and also some shrimp and the food was fantastic! Highly recommend!

We made a last minute booking in town, actually ended up with 4 beds to choose from when there were only 2 of us but it was still affordable! The accomodation was clean and very comfortable.

The owner was very friendly and told us there weren't many food choices around so we made a booking for dinner. I was very excited to find a vegan option on the menu, not only was it huge it was delivious! The vegan curry was super tasty. But you definitely have to make a reservation if you want dinner!

Dined here on our two night stay in Maydena. Great food, large serves which were appreciated after a couple of hiking days. Dessert was delicious . Many Tasmanian crafted beverages available at the bar. Best to book in for meals especially over a weekend when it gets busy. Very friendly hosts.

So close to maydena. Big rooms, self contained. Heaps of room. Clean and well appointed. Communication with Donna was great

Absolutely delicious food. Amazing service with a smile also. My wife, 2 children and I were staying nearby and needed a nice meal for dinner - Giants Table and cottages did not disappoint. Here you will see my wife’s meal which was lamb shank with mash. I ordered a chicken parmigiana, service was extremely welcoming. We would certainly add this to the list to come back to again next visit.

Room is clean and spacious for two (can fit 5pax), The surrounding area is quite scenic with ponds. This was our first stop of Tassie road trip and we chose this place hoping to spot platypus in the wild, of which we did though just one, and at a far distance. We enjoyed our stay here. =)

We're only in overnight but the accommodation is great, clean, spacious and very comfortable.
Decided to have dinner here after a run down to Strathgordon.
Omg. The food is fantastic! We had the ribs & calamari steak. Was perfect, topped with a nice red & beer on tap.

We had a wonderful stay. It's a beautiful property in a beautiful location. Not all of us are at the restaurant, but those that did said the food was delicious.
The owners Jenny and Pete were very warm friendly and great to chat to.

Nestled among forested hills and mountains, coming here feels like leaving the world and all its troubles behind.

The silence, broken only by the soft clucking of chickens and the rushing of the waterfall, and the smell of forest and woodsmoke give this place a real country, earthy feel.

We stayed in 6B Bachelor Avenue, which is a wonderful space for a little family, or even a group of close friends. I will admit that it was a little chillier than we might have liked, but being in a valley in the middle of Winter this ought to be expected. We could see snow on nearby mountaintops!

We had dinner in the restaurant one night -- I practically had to be rolled out the door. The chicken parmigiana and brownies are absolutely beautiful!

Overall, this is a great place to spend a few days wandering the wilderness. We will definitely be back, maybe in the Spring or Summer.

Fabulous friendly hosts who greet you on arrival and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food is a mix of great pub food and South African cuisine. We loved it so much we dined there on both the nights we were in Maydena. Highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Great accommodation, run by two warm and friendly hosts (Jenny and Peter). Could not recommend Giants' Table and Cottages any higher for those who want a peaceful stay surrounded Alpacas, chickens and the chance to see some platypuses. The rooms are excellent, the food/drink from their recently reopened restaurant (currently only serving guests) was wholesome. If in the area, this is an excellent place to stay.

Five of us visited and each had delicious meals. Cheesy garlic bread was amazing!
Lamb shank was super tender, garlic calamari steak incredible!
The owners were super friendly, had a great night out!

We want to say thank you to the friendly owners, Jenny and Peter, for the wonderful weekend. The place that you have is incredible! Cozy cottage whit 5 bedrooms, good sized kitchen and warm wood heater. Perfect to share with friends and family! The location is great, only 30 min to Mount Field National Park.
I totally recommend this place to everyone!
