Poatina Chalet - accommodation & conferencing

What they call locally "a Hydro Town" .That is , a whole town built by the Hydro Electric Commission in the 1960s to house workers and managers for Tasmania's Hydro Electricity generation. It's got a real 1960's vibe-and that adds to the attraction. A beautifull scenic location with accommodation and shops and service station it's an ideal "get away from it all" kind of place.

AAT had its annual general meeting here today. Ian, the manager was great, had everything we needed for the presentations, an open fire and refreshments, with lovely views through the big windows in a 60's style setting.

The lunch was hearty, flavoursome and exceptional value for our group.

Tucked away in the foothills and easy to miss if you blink at the turn off.

A great place to stay, peaceful and quiet.

Great fishing not far away, golf, walks and bike rides.

It was a great surprise when I opened the room door. Very clean inside and fantastic view it has. Breakfast included. Dinner is served in the restaurant. Must stay accommodation before heading off to Highlands.

Wonderful hospitality! Reset and looked at the great views having a delicious coffee and a massive big breakfast! Got us up the mountain on our bikes after. Thanks Rohan

Retro 1960's town with true genuine hospitality. Enjoy a snack and coffee at either The Tiers Tearooms or The View cafe. Dinner at the View Restaurant. Stay a few days and enjoy the magic surroundings in motel, backpacker accommodation or draw up a van.

Although I live 5200 km away, this place owns part of my heart. Hospitality and the scenery are breathtaking. Together with Hope.. Indonesia Job 32:5-6

I love their food and view 😍 They have a very nice and friendly staff as well. Wood chalets were top and equipped with everything you need. Highly recommend

We recently stayed at the Poatina village chalet as it was the Rally base for an event that we were a part of , Ian & he's team made us feel very welcome , yes the Chalet is dated however the rooms are immaculate & the hospitality is fantastic , which when you are five guys that are racing in motorsport all you need is a hot shower & a descent meal & they certainly delivered on that .

Great spot for bikepackers and people passing through, can even camp out back for cheap.
