Apex Park

What a wonderful spot to free camp. Plenty of shade. River next to camp for fishing boating or kayaking. Volunteers do a wonderful job mowing and keeping things clean. Wonderful playground for kids and plenty of covered areas for picnic with BBQS supplied. Hot shower coin operated but river water is used. Donation appreciated for volunteers use this for fuel for mowing otherwise they buy out of own pocket. Lovely town of Moura close by with IGA mining museum and water tower art.

After a long day travelling in the car and caravan and on a budget, we looked forward to an overnight stop at Apex park on our way back to Rockhampton from visiting family and friends in SA.

The area is on the junction of the Dawson River and the Dawson Highway just next to the road bridge. About 6km from the town of Moura, offering fuel and foods as needed.

Apex have updated the area over the years, currently they have a toilet and shower for men and women with hot water via a $1 timed control box. The area is large enough for big rigs offering many spaces to set up.

Fishing in the river is available and has a large sheltered area. Please give a donation after using the facilities.

Nice spot right on the river with basic amenities and garbage bins. Very clean site but close to the road so some traffic noise other than that it looks like it can be a bit tricky if the ground is wet. Otherwise it is a lovely spot 😊.

Really a favourite. Bird watching and dollar hot showers. And lots of tree varieties to learn about. Thanks for this wonderful free resource.

A great donation campground right on the river. There is a boat ramp, picnic areas, bbq, playground & fire pits with lots of rubbish bins provided. Dogs permitted & there is a coin operated hot shower $1 for approx 2 mins. The water used is river water (so quite brown) but clean enough! Lots of shady trees to camp under. The council regularly visits to top up supplies. Pls make sure u donate to keep this great facility open!! Boxes located on notice board & toilet block. Thx banana shire.

Absolutely beautiful, full of singing birds with a boat ramp ,barbecue areas, toilets and undercover seating with tables ,just a lovely place to stop for a rest or stay only 10k out of the town of moura so plenty to eat or drink with shopping and local garage so close but you have a lovely spot to stay very close to a river full of fish so if passing by make this one a definite or if you live in town a change is as good as a holiday

Great little free camp. When I was there, it was just after a weekend at Roma Horse Racing event where we were all packed in like sardines. Plenty of space to stretch out and plenty of shade

Clean great for the community. You can camp pay showers. All the amenities without the cost congratulations to apex for such a good facilities.

Great free camping area beside Dawson river.toilets, space, fishing. Recommend a stopover for sure.

Great park. Has access to the river, kids playground, sheltered table and chairs and public toilet. Great place to stop and take a walk or have lunch.

Fabulous rest stop. Hot showers and clean toulets. Shady trees, plenty of parking and great boating, fishing and picnic area. Highly recommended. 😎

Great park full of facilities you could possibly need. Theres showers, toilets, bbq, seating areas, a boat ramp and a river full of fish.

Beautiful spot down by the river. Perfect for a quick camping getaway or a spot to have a BBQ for lunch
