Lowells Flat campground

Loved it. Very steep in/out. Took trailer in but as signs day dry track only would be difficult in the wet.

For tranquility, serenity and a chance to relax and get away from it all then this is the place to go.
Lowell’s flat campground is settled in a little valley, protected from the harsh winds you would find at higher ground campsites.
The river is perfect for a splash around but there is a spot deep enough to have a swim, which is just lovely.
There are places to set up a campfire but be prepared that this is dependent on weather and fire restrictions.
It does take a meaty 4WD to get here as there many winding trails and a fun (scary) steep final descent to the campsite which, rightly so, is not recommended to attempt in wet weather or after heavy rainfall.

Awesome campground, very roomy and clean toilet (although far from the river, understandably). Very good to swim or fish on a hot day.
The drive is VERY steep. Do not attempt without 4x4 and low range. Way harder than the flea creek trail. Very rewarding though!

4WD ONLY & NO TRAILERS - The High Country of NSW, with no locked gates.

Unfortunately, booking a campsite is required in this remote part of NSW. If it was the High Country of VIC there would be no camping fees or bookings.There is service along the Waterfall Track that cuts through the National Park.

Lowells Flat Track comes off McIntyre's Trail. Getting to the campsite starts off with quite flat, yet bumpy with small deep rain ruts to easily avoid. Towards the end the decent is steep & rocky down to the valley below. Along this track are a few tight switch backs, unsuitable for a trailer. Exiting Lowells Flat is via the road you came down on, though going up will require low range to keep momentum.

The camping area is HUGE with many spots to stay private in this remote part of the country. The river is really deep in areas, perfect for swimming. We loved this place.

Great camp ground, really clean drop toilet, all grass grounds, right on the river. Steep 4x4 entry in, i would be concerned about taking a trailer personally. I believe it's 800 vertical metres from the camp site to the top of the ridge line trail.

A favourite of mine. Plenty of space to not be camping on top of each other, and a beautiful river for a swim. A little off the beaten track, and not a place to take trailers, caravans, campers, but a fantastic place to get away for a break.

A truly magnificent campsite. Lovely views and access to the river. Easy to disperse around the site with access to well maintained toilets.

Great remote campsite. Strictly 4wd access, really tough 50mins of gruelling ascents and descents from Flea creek campsite. Caution needed for beginners
