Sushi Tengoku

This place is great value and high quality. We have tried several sushi places around eastern suburbs and this is now our favorite. The sushi rolls are huge and so for the price it’s far more generous than any other place we have been. And they were very good. We had the salmon cream cheese roll, the volcano maki which came out hot and has some sort of melted cheese and crab thing going on with cooked salmon and it was delicious, then 2 spicy tuna rolls, soft shell crab roll and the Hawaiian roll. Definitely will be back. It was Mother’s Day so I know there was a surcharge but 4 people, 6 rolls, 4 cokes equaled $140.

Totally blown away by the quality of the food! This is truly a hidden gem in the unsw area, great food and affordable price. I love their steak, hotpot and sushi. One of the best qualities tempura I’ve tried in Sydney. Highly recommend!

They also have a promotion for students to get stamps for each $20 visit, and cash discount too.

Came here on the recommendation from a friend and looking at the Google reviews, they’re spot on! A very laid back Japanese restaurant nothing fancy but the food was so good! Huge portions of sushi on top of rice really worth the value. A bit of travel for us in the north but worth it.

My favourite sushi place in Sydney. Food is cheap and cheerful. Good value for money. Sashimi is very fresh and sushi is in giant size.

This is a simple establishment but always a nice atmosphere and fantastic service (in our experience). Nevertheless, you go here for the food. For this price class, this is the best Sushi place in Sydney (in particular for sushi rolls). Try the spicy tuna roll, soft shell crab roll, sweet spicy salmon roll or volcano maki.

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in the Eastern Suburbs. Ingredients taste fresh and the food tastes great. Would definitely recommend them.

A great sushi restaurant, sashimi is fresh and has a great selection, and Wagyu Sukiki is perfect for winter. A store that I would frequent.

Still my favorite go-to sushi establishment in sydney! The staff are super friendly and the food is always fresh.

Delicious!! The volcano maki is nothing like I’ve ever experienced before. Creamy, crunchy and well flavoured. Futomaki sushi is just average but looked at their portions - super generous with fillings!! Takoyaki is also crunchy and delicious. Self served bar for water, ginger and wasabi. 5% discount for cash payments is also another bonus for me. Highly recommended! Will definitely come back soon. Thank you!

Love the dishes! The tamago roll is the best in Sydney 😋sweet, thick and juicy! The aburi sushi are all great! I ordered salmon, scallop and kingfish. All of them are fresh and nicely grilled. The rice is another bright spot, not too wet not too dry and perfectly flavored sushi rice. I also love the filling of the gyoza and its crispy bottom. The best Japanese take away experience for me hehehehe. Btw, the owner is a very interesting and friendly person. Definitely will come back and try dining in the store next time!

Very fresh with a wide variety of seafood. Really large portions and you're getting what you pay for. Service was good, and food came out very quickly, although I would have preferred if it had been spaced out since we ordered a lot. There wasn't anyone else there yet as they'd just opened, so we felt overwhelmed when everything was out together.

I love the king fish sashimi, amazing taste. The people are very nice, introduced different kind of new drinks for us. The hot sake is the best one for this kind of cold weather.

Friendly customer service and excellent sushi. I ordered the futomaki roll to go and it was made to order with really fresh ingredients. They also provided fresh wasabi, soy sauce and ginger too. The place is just a block away from unsw. I'd recommend to bring cash so you can get the extra 5% discount!

Probably the biggest sushi in Sydney if not Australia The size of each nigiri here is at least twice as large as standard nigiri out there, fish is so big that I cant see the rice. Size aside the quality is really good and freshness is guaranteed, they have a wide selection of sushi but aburi sushis (salmon, kingfish and especially the scallop!!) are our favourite. Cant wait to be back!

Omg this place is good! We got uber eat and 30 mins later the foods are still amazing!
Sashimi fresh and thick cut. The rolls are just perfect! Tempuras are also amazing! Portions are big and decent. They don’t drizzle mayo to cover the freshness of the ingredients. The nigiri are just divine.
Do get the salmon belly aburi! I am still thinking about it.

Oops, lower your expectations! Tastes are subjective. If you want quality sushi, not too much mayo and sauce, quality ingredients and good ratio of fish vs rice, try this place!
