Overnight stay with a great heart pumping climb to summit Mt Anne on first day. You definitely need some experience before even thinking about this walk.First half of walk has had huge amounts of work done with the duck boarding and what seems like never ending steps that for me was worse coming down than going up. Over 2 days I seen about 12 people, everybody was great to have a chat with & exchange a few track notes or directions. If you come across a local they mite reveal some secrets.
Cant talk this area up enough. If u like remote hiking It's one of the MUST do tracks in Tassie. I personally wouldn't attempt summit climb if wet,one slip & it could be your last.
Fantastic

Be Prepared.
That is all I can say.
Prepared for both a physical and mental challenge.
Prepared for breathtaking beauty.
Prepared to grow.
Prepared for the sudden change in weather
Prepared for the best Tasmania has to offer.

Driving to Strathgordon is the easiest way to get in among the massive mountains of Southwest National Park. The sights are big. Big mountains, big lakes, and a very big dam that you can walk across.

My most favorite place in the world. Just 2 hours out of Hobart and when you're there you forget about the rest of the world and just relax and unwind and get back to nature.
You can hike, boat, fish, kayak or jetski like we do to see more.
This place is still prehistoric in places, so leave only your footprints.

Awesome day trip from Hobart. Stunning views with no other tourists in sight. Plenty of walking trails.

Such a beautiful place. Make sure you take the Scott's Peak road to view one of Australia's most scenic roads.

Rain, mountains, fresh and windswept. Hidden hike to Mt Sprent from Serpentine Dam. Steep and muddy, but worth it!

Beautiful uninhabited Territory. Sometimes remind me of new Zealand

Absolutely stunning park with a range of remote and rewarding hikes for those with experience, a sense of adventure and willingness to attempt almost anything. Western Arthur’s is brilliant

The walking trail that we did was very treacherous but it was definitely worth it, the views were amazing but very very cold and you have to carry your tent and sleeping bags in your backpack because it is overnight

The track starts at the end of the southernmost road in Australia, so driving there is already an experience itself. The track is relatively easy with little elevation changes and takes you through beautiful landscapes varying from forest to open meadows, and I also spotted several pademelon along the way. As I said, I got soaked by the rain but even that didn't bother me, especially when I finally got to the remote South Cape Bay which was absolutely beautiful. There was even a rainbow waiting for me at the end! It was so worth the walk and getting wet. It is also possible to continue further from the bay if you feel like it. The national park is quite remote and probably not the most popular one in Tasmania, so it doesn't get too busy (at least on a rainy weekday). I drove there from Hobart and the drive itself through cute little towns such as Franklin and Huonville was lovely. I highly recommend this place!

Probably the most spectacular mountain scenery in Australia.
