I’m giving 5 stars because with the bad reviews I wasn’t expecting much.
Standouts was the soundproofing on street rooms. Really good
We had great coffee in the cafe downstairs with delightful service. The food I saw going out looked fine but probably not the most innovative cuisine you’ll find in St Kilda. Location amazing.
Yes the parking is tight and expensive but better than not having parking like some hotels. All up was a pleasant surprise. I like the hall lights go out when no one around and come on with activity.
More hotels should be this pro active with power waste that is very high in hotels generally
Well done 👍

Lovely place to spend quality time at, staffs are very helpful and rooms are well maintained. It's located at lovely beach location with trams connecting to city stopping next to the hotel. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my stay at the St Kilda Beach Hotel. The location is superb - 5 minutes walk to beach - 2 minutes walk to tram -walking distance to all St Kilda has to offer. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable. There were lovely trees outside my window. Free coffee voucher for the cafe which served the most delicious scrambled eggs, roast cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. The hotel felt very secure with keycard access required for front door after 7pm and for lifts. There is a little outdoor area on the top floor which I took advantage of to view the sunrise. You can also see part of the city skyline from there. I loved the lifts which is a strange thing for a claustrophobic person to say but lift 1 is a very cleverly designed illusion when it opens of St Kilda pier which made the lift seem larger than it was. From curiosity I had to check out lift 2 and laughed when it opened to show the entrance to Luna Park. Thanks for a lovely experience.

My wife and I read so many reviews giving this place a bit of a bad reputation. Our experience (thankfully) was nothing like what we had read online.

The service staff were lovely, friendly and always made sure to greet us whenever we entered/exited the building. Our room was upgraded from a twin bedroom to a queen bedroom due a booking error made on our part for no additional charge.

Amenities were clean and tidy and the place smelled nice, apart from the slow elevator there really isn’t anything wrong with this hotel, great location and a wide variety of restaurants and bars to explore at night and so close to public transport to travel elsewhere this place is a great destination for tourists to Melbourne.

Friendly staff good room. Good location. Value for money only cost me $ 95 plus 35 for parking One thing they can improve is their lifts

St Kilda is a mixed bag of surprises and rather bohemian, so finding a really great little hotel so conveniently situated and excellently presented was a treat. The rooms are a little dated but spotlessly clean with exceptionally comfy beds, a well stocked mini bar, and a fantastically hot shower. Comfortable and welcoming, highly recommended. The staff are friendly, helpful and the cafe serves the best coffee and eggs benedict ever.
Tram Station is right over the road too, to pretty much anywhere in Melbourne so it couldn't be more convenient for exploring this amazing city. Get a Myki pass on your mobile and you are all systems go to travel the trams at will.

My room was clean, the staff were friendly. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, I had the best sleep. The shower was great and it’s also in a perfect location. I was only there for a very brief stay but would happily stay here again!

FANTASTIC place to stay! Right near public transport and several great restaurants. The staff were very helpful and friendly and my room was amazing. Well appointed and very clean, I very much appreciated the double glazed windows and black out shades - even though you're in a busy area, you can still get a great sleep!

Great place to stay. Loved the Esplanade for walking. Comfy beds, large rooms and attentive staff. Extra blankets had not been left by housekeeping in the room, I rang reception and they sent some up within 30mins. We were warm and slept very well.

I was made to feel very welcome. All staff were extremely pleasant: Jane and her colleagues were simply wonderful and so helpful. I love the way Jane described Lift 1; that it uses the "scenic route", ie - can be a bit slow. That justed added to the enjoyment and fun I had there. I took the lift a couple of times just to add more fun to my stay. To me, both lifts were perfectly fine.

I had trouble working out how to get the shower going, however, I put that down to my lack of experience with this type of plumbing: I'd never come across it before. This also added to the fun.
Beds were super comfortable!!

Breakfast was really delicious with large helpings off everything I ordered. The coffee was super fantastic.

Overall, it was a stay loaded with fun. The room was great: clean, tidy, comfortable and so inviting.

It was a delight to stay at this hotel and will certainly come back again.

I was very impressed with the Rydges hotel at St Kilda. The rooms, Cafe and service was excellent especially Simon the Duty Manager who was across my 2 separate bookings when I called. Breakfast was enjoyable, and it's a great part of St Kilda with lots of dining options and the beach on the doorstep. Highly recommended and great value for money.

where else could you go and get the most amazing, ongoing, kind hospitality that here if you are wanting to stay somewhere in St Kilda? We had our wedding party stay here and it was rescheduled three times with COVID and yet each time, they did not mind rescheduling, dealing with changes, requests etc, and without cost. When we finally got to the weekend, they had given us a particular section of the hotel without asking so we were close together, able to share a glass of wine together etcv without worrying about our neighbours...we were our neighbours! The rooms are good hotel quality, the hub below serves good coffee and breakfast/lunch and the little bar does a jolly fine gin and tonic! Parking was available for us all - and finally, th hotel reception staff assisted us with last minute needs (scissors, extra cleaning, stapler) without query - and with a smile. Thank you so much!

Fantastic stay at this hotel, although it was only a one night stay before boarding the spirit of Tasmania. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was comfortable, breakfast was delicious.
Wonderful location.

Fantastic place to be - looked a little tucked away but was a great surprise. Big rooms, good cafe, great bar /restaurant and the hotel staff were some of the best we have ever met! This is where customer service is king. All staff were informative, helpful, easy to talk to and ready to help - some other hotels could learn a thing or two. Have already told a heap of our friends and family. We know where we are staying next time in Melbourne.

We stayed here last night for my birthday/baby-free night, the staff were awesome and I got a gift left in our room which they didn't have to do but was a lovely surprise. Room was surprisingly spacious and very clean, we had a ball.
