Ichirin Japanese Food

Tempura’s flours so thin and crispy best of the best! Salmon and sea urchins are melt in your mouth, so fresh ! The bento box always awesome and the chefs are so friendly. Best Japanese food I ever had!

Food is great - a bit on the pricier end for Japanese restaurants in Perth but the portion sizes are huge, especially for the bento sets.

Monthly-changing Omakase menu provides a taste of the Japanese-Australian fusion that Chef Shiro is amazing at serving.

Indoor seating can get a little crowded considering how busy the restaurant gets. There is outdoor seating but not the greatest in wet/hot/cold weather (heater units provided in the cold). Make sure to book ahead via call - or confirm a booking has gone through the Quandoo website since that sometimes causes a mess.

Free parking outside, with toilets at the back (will need to ask the staff for a key).

Booked ahead for the December omakase. High quality produce cooked to perfection with matching sauces across all dishes. Very impressive!

The Bento boxes at Ichirin are always great. We got one each from the specials menu.
The only downside was how close the tables were set next to each other so there was not much privacy.
The teriyaki beef was 5⭐
Would be back!

The most lovely staff and the freshest food! Got there at 5:30 (at opening) on Tuesday with no booking - definitely recommend booking. We were the first ones seated, however it is definitely a well-loved hidden gem of Leeming as it was completely packed 5 mins after opening! Amazing!

The best Japanese restaurant in perth.

To be honest, I did expect just one of the normal Japanese restaurant for light dinner and felt a bit high price however, as soon as I taste the food, the price all makes sense.
I have ordered 3 dishes and everything was perfect.

I am willing to visit here again sometimes with my family or friends.

Booked 3 weeks in advanced to secure a table for my husband’s birthday dinner. Service was warm, friendly and swift. Food was authentic and absolutely delicious. Whole family enjoyed it throughly! Most patrons there were regulars. And the chef/ owner greeted us when we got there & even though he was busy made an effort to say goodbye too! Very impressed with the quality & freshness of ingredients used. Will be back very soon to try out other dishes on the menu!

Such a nice hidden gem. The head chef was so polite to staff and patrons. All waitstaff were pleasant and think we may have recieved a double serving of dessert by mistake. Will definitely go back, extra dessert or not! Thanks for our lovely dinner! Great food. Great value.

Latest edit: 16 Jun 22 - Amazing tasty authentic Japanese food as usual. Pricing is still on the steeper side but it's worth it if you want quality tasty Japanese food. Need to book in advance as they are usually full with customers.

Food are really good. On the costly side but if you can look past that, you will not be disappointed with the quality of the food.

The restaurant is not big hence best to book for reservation. Recently tried their Mother's Day Set meal & Assorted Sashimi. You will not be disappointed!

Quality of food & the taste are top notch. Only thing is portion size on the smaller side. But hey... something have to give, right? 😉

Went there for lunch today great food but it was so busy for a Wednesday lunch that it felt a bit rushed.

Just had the set menu digestion dinner last night. Very interesting dishes that were very tasty 7/10 but we had to order a sushi platter after the 6 courses as we were still hungry, which was disappointing. Will be ordering off the menu next time instead of the set menu.

Went back there after being away for 2 years and it's still as good if not better then before. Best to book ahead as the people in the local are book the few tables out well in advance. Fantastic food, service and fresh sushimi which was a treat.

We have just returned to Ichirin after not being able to revisit for a little while, and the food was as amazing as always. The menu does not appear to have changed that much, with their classic such as Hiramasa Nimonk and their Unagi Don still remaining on their menu. Their nigiri/sashimi special menu is really worth trying - we had the conger eel and aburi salmon which were both amazing.

Highly recommend making a booking here either online or by giving them a call. It does fill up quite far in advance nowadays, so be sure to book in advance! Shiro-san and his team are always so welcoming and we cannot wait to head back to Ichirin for our next meal!

Absolutely delicious! The quality of the food is fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. You definitely need to make a booking as the place gets packed out regularly. Price is on the pricier side, but definitely worth it as the quality of the ingredients, preparation care and attention to detail can give any fine dining restaurant a run for its money. This is a rare treasure to have a restaurant of such high quality in a quiet street in the suburbs. The atmosphere immediately brings me back to my travels around Japan.

My second visit after an extended period and the delayed gratification was well worth it.
I ordered a Tasmanian Salmon otoro aburi sashimi and it was sublime. For mains I ordered a whitefish kaisen don and it was equally delightful. The portions were generous and I came away dreaming about the next time I have the chance to dine at this amazing culinary establishment.
I would highly recomend it.

I have lived in the neighbouring suburb for over a decade but have never tried this gem.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Four of us mums ditched the kids for the evening and came here for girls’ night. As it was my first time here I had no idea what to expect. The restaurant was packed - our reservation which was only done a week ago meant that we sat at the bar, but that was explained when we called to reserve.

We decided to all have bento box dinners. The food was beautifully executed and the portions are generous and every bite was a joy.

A couple of us had the beef gozen bento - that changes weekly. And the others had the Ichirin bento.

Upon leaving we realised that they do have an omakase menu. One to try for the next time.

If you love authentic Japanese food, look no further than this restaurant. If you are planning to go, reserve as early as you can.

This time, we didn't or Omakase menu as we would prefer more simple and traditional dishes. Hotate (scallop) sashimi was not on the menu, but the chef was kind enough to do it for us. Variety of options for fresh produce. 👍👍👍

Even though the place is was a bit cramped, the food and service was amazing! The Salmon Aburi melts in your mouth and the Margaret River TDR Fillet was cooked to perfection.

Came yesterday and has the assorted sashimi and the prawn tempura don. I once ordered the Tendon in Japan, and although it seems like the most simple dish, the flavours were so amazing. So ever since then, I have been looking for a Tendon everywhere and couldn’t find it. This is the first place that I have found it, and it was amaZing!
The assisted sashimi was so good, stand out was the raw tuna 🍣
My only recommendation is to get in early or to book, otherwise you won’t get a seat.

We went here for our wedding anniversary. We had the gozen Bento, one with white fish tempura and the other with prawn tempura. We also had the soft shell crab as well. Loved the food and the service.

This is a hidden gem in Leeming! Slightly tough to get a booking and the restaurant isn’t exactly large but the food is great. We had the Omakase which was $70 a person for 6 or so dishes including dessert. There are better Omakase out there but this is by no means bad. Enjoyed many of the dishes that came out and will definitely be back to have a go at their a la carte dishes. Staff were friendly and helpful, service was very prompt and efficient!

Best sashimi i had in Perth so far. I think even better than my previous favourite, Shou. Sashimi was sooooo fresh. Salmon was the best i think. Tuna was really fresh as well. King fish was great!!! All the tempura were cooked just right. Not too oily. Tataki beef was tender. Truly recommended!
