The Leap Hotel

Stopped here for 1 night to camp, camping is free but you should buy something from the pub. The owner is really friendly and the food and cold beer were really good! Clean toilets and plenty of space to camp.

I just returned from one of the best meals of my life. I ordered the whole crumbed steak, I originally was nervous by the challenge but was eager to try something I had heard such great things about. When I received it, I was concerned for my stomach but alas, I pushed on. From the first bite I knew this was going to be an easy task. Perfectly seasoned crumbed steak, chips cooked to perfection, gravy excellently salted and salad precisely dressed. No bad words to say about this pub. Atmosphere was welcoming and staff were elite. Will be returning upon every trip to Mackay.

Didn't have any tucker. After driving past this pub for over 20 years I finally got a chance to drop in. Cold beers, relaxing atmosphere, awesome vintage inside, reminds me of the good old days.

We stayed one night with a tent and the staff was really nice. It’s free but you should consume to support the business! They deserve it. The pizzas are very good! 😋

A great place to stop over for an overnighter at no charge. All they ask is you buy a meal or drink which is really generous.
The food is good and with a great atmosphere.
Toilets are open all night and there is a coin operated hot shower available. Highly recommend!😊

Feeling full and very satisfied with another amazing feed from The Leap Pub. The new owners have made a new menu and it will NOT disappoint. Had to get a photo before we fully hooked in, partner said the Rib Fillet burger is a 12/10! Coral trout is always delicious with a generous serving (I could only finish one piece), salad is fresh and tasty as, and chips are delicious. Staff are wonderful and always friendly. Highly recommended if you want to chill and have someone else do the cooking, watching traffic go by in a fantastic atmosphere.

Great place for a free stopover. Just buy a meal or drink in the pub is all they ask. Toilets open all night and a shower is $2. The Bruce Highway is close by so expect some traffic noise. Maybe it was her day off but I never saw no topless barmaid as mentioned in previous reviews LOL.

Owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming. Free camping overnight with toilets and $1 shower. Food van opens 8am selling delicious coffee and food. Do yourself a favor and visit to enjoy atmosphere, food and play pool.

Great place to stop in grab a bite and a beer, free camping available, paid showers and toilets available, great atmosphere, great food and good value for money.
Places like this need more attention from travellers.

Super spooky hotel in the middle of nowhere. But def the place to stay over night. Cheap drinks and great atmosphere. Love it. The bar staff a bit cranky but that’s the style 👻

The leap hotel has an old timey atmosphere with friendly service and excellent food. Free camp was available on the flat grassy area with clean showers ($1/2 mins). Perfect place to stop over

Camping grounds are lovely, grassy, and trees. Plenty of room for Longreach m/h.

We stayed on a Sunday night, which was Pizza night. Very yummy!
Busy, people are coming and going all the time. Meet a few of the locals and played a couple of games of pool.
Hubby wooped me!! 😞

A fantastic old pub with loads of memorabilia, you couldn't ask for better service, the staff are sensational and to top it off the food is great.

Great free camp place to stop. The publican & staff are very welcoming & the food (& drinks) served are reasonably priced & very tasty.

We had a late night request for meals. The publician was so so friendy and food was yum I had a steak cooked to perfection. We had my 90 plus dad in a wheel chair. Staff made him feel so special. Thank you so much.
