Turned up about 4pm on a Sunday and had the place to myself. It was a very peaceful 30 minute walk, with just the sound of wrens and the sheep in the far distance.

There is a short and very rocky steep climb to the top of Mt Monster which I don't think I would've done without my hiking pole to steady me. A rocky but flatter trail goes along the face of the outcrop through woodland, with fabulous views across the farmlands.

There are several large parking bays along the one-way road in the Park where one can pull up and throw down a swag or smallish tent. Camping is free, but there are no toilets and no water available. No open fires are allowed. There are a few picnic tables and benches.

Overall a lovely peaceful spot for a picnic and to stretch your legs, and an excellent overnight stop if you're making a long trip.

A quiet place to walk slowly and experience the bird-life and views. We even came across a wallaby at one point, who lolloped away to a safe distance and watched us. The views are 360⁰ at the top, as (at 93m) it's still the highest hill around. It's a gentle place with a good explanatory board. Near the beginning of the walk is a post which should contain several leaflets. We only found one leaflet there, so we returned it at the end of our walk. You can go straight to the summit from the car park (takes ten minutes or less in one direction), or take a circuitous route, taking maybe half an hour to return (but we walked slowly so it took 50 minutes or so). (We did both walks and were there for 1½ hours in total.) The path is well signposted. If it's wet underfoot it could get slippery in places. Take your time with this walk, it's worth it. It's entirely free of charge. When you exit by road, you are in a completely different place to where you started --slightly further towards Keith.

Amazing views from a place I've driven past plenty of times but didn't know existed. Glad we stopped in for the quick walk to the top.

The walk around the peak is great but the real surprise was the quarry lit by the afternoon sun.
The satellite picture shows a lot of walks. Unfortunately the reception was not enough to get the satellite image so we missed half the walks. Next time!

Nice walk that is only 2km off the main highway or a great place to camp for the night away from the highway noise. Easily accessible for any vehicle.

What a place to stay. We found this as a convenient free camping site on the way from Melbourne to Adelaide - we're glad we did. Campsites are relatively simple - no amenities other than a few tables and chairs. But there are spots you can park your car and comfortably pitch a tent.

The summit is something else. Really shows how flat SA is. 360 degree views. If you can, get up early for sunrise and make sure you catch the sunset. Absolutely stunning.

Just a word of warning - be careful of ants. There's lots of them. And possums. Keep food locked away.

Great place for a walk or a picnic.. Their are 2 free camp sites noted in wiki camps with both being very good locations. Lots of tree cover. Just watch out for cliff edges around the quarry area. No facilities or water available. Road in is one way so find the right entrance please.

Definitely worth a look. The geology is interesting and to walk over the exposed granite is humbling. I didn't see a monster (Echnida?).

Great tucked away park. Good for wailing, picnics or relaxing. You can check the old quarries as well.
