Bluebird Cafe

Wonderful (semi-retired couple) run this cafe & have done so for the past 20yrs. He originates from Cornwall & his wife from Wales ... loved the accents & even asked if they were singers. EVERYTHING is made fresh to order ... my beer battered fish with perfect fat, crispy chips & 2 garden fresh salads was delicious & Marty enjoyed his Beef Schnitty with more perfect chips, peas & gravy. I'm also looking forward to the slice of fruit cake topped with pecans shortly ... all baked on premises. Highly recommend this gorgeous cafe when visiting Barmera (some might think it too pricey but we were happy to pay for such quality).

Wonderful small cafe that serves great quality meals. I am always impressed with the quality of this cafe with truly excellent sandwiches, burgers and coffees. The cake was delicious also. It’s a simple place with limited seating overlooking the lake. Friendly and caring service with the cafe calling when the food is ready so you can enjoy the lakeside whilst waiting without any inconvenience.

Really great food and really great service... it mightnt look the best from the outside but so glad we still went in... had the schezuan prawns ( asked for it hot and extra coriander) and hoisin scotch fillet... ( he asked for no chilli) nothing was too much trouble) soooo good 😃😃 would eat there again easily!!!! Cutest family run business 👏👏😃😃

Great meals, more unique than a standard pub meal. Options in town are limited and this is the best dinner option. They do take away but we ate in. There is a back room that could fit 12 max for private dining with beautiful sunset views. Great wine selection as well. Excellent friendly service. Highly recommend!

Small and cozy. Indoor seating has 4 tables that seats 4-5 people. Has outdoor seating as well. Very good view of Lake Bonney if seated outside. Has eftpos and accepts cash. Coffee is good. Serves desserts and some, homemade--really good. Has a set of menu and signature dishes but very good. Options for the degree of 'heat' (spicy) you want put in. Cafe has a rustic charm to it as it has been around Barmera for 20 years. Quiet and homely feel. Family owned business. Delightful people.

Chicken schnitzel burger was fresh and well made, and reasonably priced. Although the shop looks small and unassuming from the outside, the quality of the food is excellent. Definitely recommend the place. 👍

Best eats in Barmera, but also one of the best in the region, its a basic setup, but has amazing views on the outside tables, great for bringing the dog along.
We are working our way through the menu and its really been a pleasant experience, with very much their own signature style on food, unlike so many other cookiecutter meals.
staff are also lovely.

Best chicken schnitzel burger I have had ever, everything was fresh and a generous size. Lovely friendly service and made quite quickly. Kids had crumbed fish and loved it. Excellent. Thankyou

We normally get take aways and sit on the beautiful lawns outside. Stunning food, views and atmosphere.

Here for an early dinner before heading back to Adelaide with wife and two children, enjoyed the outlook over the lake with AWESOME food, great service and hospitality. Very Quaint cafe. 5 STAR in my books ….. Thanks

Just ordered Lunch from here and Very pleased. Got the Greek salad and a medium chips. The chips were very nice and the salad was perfect, Very filling. The olives and feta didn't taste cheap and the dressing was great. The view is also quite nice on a summers day. Great friendly people who run it too. Overall really good food and good customer service.

Partner and I stopped in for a takeaway lunch. Was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back 😊

Husband, myself and 4 kids had an absolutely amazing lunch here! Service was fast, efficient and super friendly. Served us at our table, bought everything out in a timely manner. Totally recommend this little cafe. Best meal we have had our whole holidays.

Great food, lovely staff and a cute atmosphere. The staff were kind enough to bring a knife and hand sanitiser so I could eat a chicken burger with my hands. The smoothies are refreshing and taste amazing. Genuine atmosphere, staff are more than willing to talk and get to know regular customers or new comers. Will definitely be coming back, little gem

What a delightful surprise, extensive menu, food was fresh and beautifully presented. Only shame is we aren’t staying long enough to work our way through the whole menu! Will definitely be back.

Best fisherman’s basket with coleslaw salad. And for a treat the pecan and fig cake which is a moist and not overly sweet cake. The service was very friendly, not overwhelmed by the number of customers they had. I regret not having taken a photo of my lunch but a great excuse to come back and. Amazing, friendly service and delicious food. We were a big group of people and they were extremely accommodating. I definitely recommend this place to enjoy a meal on the lake.

Absolutely incredible! First visit was all the way back when I was just a kid. Almost 30 now and I've still yet to find another restaurant or Cafe that can do the garlic prawns as good as Bluebird Cafe. Friendly staff, gorgeous views. Phenomenal food. Every time I come back to Barmera, I make sure to visit!
