Great location wasn’t expecting air conditioning so a bonus on a heatwave weekend would definitely stay again only downside breakfast not included as per advertised but won’t stop us booking again so close to everything loved our stay

My room was small but comfortable. Shared bathroom was clean, and I only had to wait to use it once during my stay. On Saturday night, I could hear the piano music a little bit from the bar downstairs, but I didn't mind. I liked it. Also, the pub - Fortune of War - was fabulous. Friendly and with great music. Enjoyed singing and carousing. Also, the location couldn't be beat, as it was close to transport and the most beautiful parts of Sydney. Bed comfy too. Excellent stay.

Me and my family had a great stay. The location was super convenient to discover the city and to have a quick access to the airport. My family, who doesn't speak English, could move around the location of the hotel easily and find perfect places for them to have a drink and some food. The staff cared a lot about the room for my parents when I told them they had some difficulties to move, I really appreciated their effort and the information provided. Also, the hotel has lots of personality, which is not always easy to find in a big city like Sydney!

Beautiful, cute, fabulous hotel! We were a little worried to stay in an older/historical hotel, but oh my! It was the best choice we could have made! Not only is The Russell cheaper than any surrounding hotel, it was a very nice, clean and had some character that a chain hotel wouldn't have. Location was great! Just a few blocks away from The Harbour Bridge and just around the corner to the Opera House. 2-minute walk to The Circular Quay Train Station. And at The Harbour, there are some great ice cream/gelato places.

Staff is so nice and helpful... we got off our cruise ship at 10am and "checked-in", it was early so we couldn't go to our room... the staff tagged our bags and assured us they would take them to our room. So, we went ventured out with our Aussie friend for the day. When we got back, our bags were in our room and the room was fabulous! Loved it! Very good bed and pillows! Everything nice!

Continental breakfast was great! They had had nut breads, regular bread and fruits... along with bran cereal, frosted flakes and others.
Definitely would stay here again when we come back to Sydney!

No complaints, everything was fantastic! Loved, loved, love The Russell Hotel. The bathrooms are in the hallway, but they are very nice and kept up nicely! Soap and shampoo is provided! No complaints!

Got a tour of the hotel even though it was under renovation! This hotel was featured in an animated TV show, and it was my friend's dream to stay in the hotel. Mr. Janson (?) was kind enough to let us in even though it was not open for public yet. I truly appreciate the kind gesture. The hotel itself was very warm and cosy and in a beautiful location with great views! I look forward to coming to stay once it reopens.

The hotel is currently closed while it is undergoing a renovation. Despite that we tried our luck to call in and request for a short visit as I have been looking forward to visit the hotel for the last ten years. Lo and behold, Jenson very graciously invited us in to have a quick look inside this historic hotel building, and even gave us a personal tour of the famous haunted hotel room, room number 25 that I've been wanting to visit, as well as their reception area! Even though the hotel is undergoing a renovation, we were also pleased to know that it still kept all the iconic keychains hung in the reception area. Jenson was very patient with us, and he even gifted me with a lanyard with the hotel name on it! Thank you very much for the very kind hospitality! Would love to visit the hotel again in the future once all the renovations are completed!

I’m impressed with staffs, hotel room and all services. I arrived in early morning because of my flight arrival at 6 am and just want to drop off luggages there but a staff hand me a towel for refresh bath! I’m impressed! Hotel is boutique style which is lovely, bathroom is wide and good not far from our room. Valuable for money in the center of Sydney and near main station! Breakfast is good!

Really loved my stay at this little gem. Fantastic location, really lovely comfy and clean rooms and super value for money. I was here alone for a work trip and was a bit nervous about the shared bathroom but the separate shower and toilet were really clean with Molton Brown products and I didn't have to fight any other guests for access! The breakfast buffet has a great selection of cereals, fruit, bread etc. The attention to detail throughout was exceptional and a real credit to whoever is in charge. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Sydney.

Fabulous boutique hotel in the heart of The Rocks with vintage charm. Had a small double room without tv (no problem) and shared bathroom. Bathroom was spotless every time I went to use it so it was no issue. Continental breakfast included in the price was excellent. Can't wait to go back for my next visit next week. Such good value for its amenities and fantastic location. Gets my highest recommendation.

Really nice place to stay. Location is perfect and the hotel is very comfortable with everything you need. We had room one above the pub which is not ideal for anyone who wants to go to bed early as the noise level is extremely high especially Friday nights DJ.

So wonderfully different to stay in this historic hotel in the Rocks. The price was very reasonable and breakfast was included. The position of the hotel is excellent if your a tourist looking to explore Sydney. We walked in minutes to the Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, The Opera House and restaurants. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

It was 12 months ago that I used this hotel for the 1st time before departing on a cruise. Rooms were nicely decorated and clean. The staff were also helpful when our cruise was delayed. The thing that most impressed me arrived today in the mail. It was a postcard from the Russell Hotel telling me to stay safe and that they were thinking of me. Victorians have been treated like lepers across the country with our Covid numbers flaring up through no fault of our own. It was nice to get that small encouragement that they look forward to welcoming me back soon. A very nice gesture Russell Hotel and I will be back one day to say thank you in person.

Beautiful old world charm boutique hotel. Our stay there was brilliant and to be honest couldn't find any faults. Awesome location at The Rocks two minutes walk to Circular Quay Simply superb rooms and staff!! We were overlooking George St with terrific views of the Harbour Bridge and parklands. A simple stroll down George St finds you in the middle of great little boutique shops and food establishments. Whether it's fine dining or a pizza you are after, it's all catered for. Very well catered for breakfast in the Russell Wine Bar was superb. All in all a memorable stay with polite and helpful staff and a great location. We will be back.

A traditional old hotel in the historic Rocks area. Well maintained and reasonably comfortable considering its age. Perfect location for easy access to Circular Quay cruise terminal, ferries and trains. We enjoyed the included breakfast.

I love the Russell. I have stayed there a few times now - it's quirky and comfortable with lovely ambience and friendly staff. So close to Circular Quay ferries and train, as well as the Opera House, it makes a city visit really easy. Highly recommended.

What a charming heritage building! Yes it may be old, but it’s beautiful, has been renovated and has a lift now inside. Breakfast included aswell. Some rooms have their own bathroom or you can use the share bathroom depending on what room you chose, everything was so clean and kept well. Other bonuses are that it’s in the heart of the rocks with a balcony view from the sitting/reading room with a roof terrace!! Old fashioned with unique, eclectic character, you’re not cooped up here at all and your bedroom windows open - freedom ;) unlike other modern hotels.. mini bar, tea, coffee, iron/board, bath robes, hangers, tv, wifi, alarm clock radio with USB charge port and most importantly PARKING- yes they even have an awesome deal with the Wilson carpark 155 George St right next door, how cool is that and for only $25 per 24hrs! Cheapest and best deal - I did the research, it gets VERY expensive Parking your car in Sydney. As with a lot of old hotels they don’t always have their own personal parking so this deal along with staying here at the Russell is perfect 👌 there’s so much history you need to research it. I’m already hooked and obsessed that I’m looking at going back in a few weeks. I’m saving the best for last- Room 8, this is the room I stayed in on purpose, yes I did my research, and it’s haunted! I was seeking the paranormal and that’s exactly what I got. Another thing you’ll need to research. One must realise that these buildings especially in the rocks area were built way back “in the beginning” the 1800’s, there’s bound to be ALOT of history with them, that’s why I did the ghost tour and the rocks walkabout tour- highly recommend and there’s other tours to do too, that’s why I’ll be back 😀 soon!! So to sum it all up, great hotel, great price, great parking, yummy breakfast (included) and friendly welcoming staff in a fantastic location. Thank you Russell 👍

This place is the best! SO central (10min walk to the Opera House in the middle of Vivid) and very reasonable costs - underground parking next door (discounted for guests) and walk wherever you want to go. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and clean, the staff friendly and helpful - can't wait for my next stay!

This hotel couldnt be more centrally located. Walk across the road to Circular Quay, go shopping at the Rocks Markets on the weekend. Loads of good places of you are a foodie. The surroundings are 2nd to none! The hotel itself is old world and very quaint, well run and looked after. The hotel reception are very welcoming. Cant say anything bad about this hotel. Will return for sure!
